The form of pronouns (me, him, her, them) when they function as objects: 
(accusative case):
I called
him, between you and me, We wrote to them. Nouns no longer have
object forms in English.

old information:
Information in a text that was introduced previously. For instance, in The
desk is cluttered. It needs to be cleaned up, the pronoun It is old information
referring back to The desk mentioned in the previous clause.
open class:
Word classes
(nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs) to which new mem-
bers are constantly being added. Compare with closed classes.
open registers:
Registers
that have a fairly flexible structure. For instance, spontaneous
conversations often have a very loose overall structure and can consist of
little more than conventions for turn-taking. Speakers can switch topics
if they want to, and there is no set order for who speaks and when.
Compare with closed registers.
open syllable:
A syllable ending in a vowel, as in the words he /hi/ and to /tu/. Compare
with closed syllable.
operator:
An auxiliary verb or form of do used to form a question: He
should leave S
Should he leave? or She jogs every day S Does she jog every day?
overlapping speech:
Instances of speech involving two or more speakers talking simultaneously.
