Go through the instructions carefully with the class, making sure they
understand the key words such as upholstery (= the materials that are used inside the car,
e.g. to cover the seats), gasp (= a sharp intake of air to express surprise, etc.), sticking point (=
something which is preventing an agreement from being reached). Then play the extracts one
at a time, pausing after each extract for trainees to discuss the questions in pairs. They listen
a second time to check their answers before feeding back to the class. Trainees then read the
commentary on page 72 to compare it with their ideas.

Trainees work alone to put the words in order. Tell them not to write their answers on their
books, but on a separate piece of paper (see Extension activity below). They compare their
answers in pairs before listening again to check. Finally, go through the answers with the class.
