For example, in the United States and the United Kingdom, free economic zones are aimed at
implementing regional policies aimed at developing small and medium-sized businesses in depressed
areas. EIHs are also being set up in developing countries. This makes it possible to turn backward
underdeveloped areas into rapidly developing ones (unlike industrialized countries, these countries
attract more foreign capital).
In the world economy, the organizational and legal system of EECs is diverse. This is why it
is difficult to clearly classify this or that EIHs because they have the characteristics of many regions.
Analyzing the approaches to the organization of free economic zones, we developed a
typology of free economic zones as part of our research.
