Painting - Medieval monumental paintings of the 14th and 15th centuries developed folk painting (paintings on church walls in Khattula, Taivassila). In the 18th century, M. Toppelius became famous in the field of monumental painting. During this period, the genres of secular bench painting became popular in F. (portraits of I. Vaclin, landscapes and still lifes of N. Schilmark). In the 19th and 20th centuries, the Finnish School of Fine Arts was established, and the traditions of folk handicrafts, wood carving, and medieval painting were revived. In the mid-20th century, W. Aaltonen became famous for his sculptures. Contemporary artists include M. Collin, A. Kanerva, V. Vionoyya, S. Gryonvall; from graphs V.Askola, I.Colliander, T.Tapiovara; sculptors A.Tukiaynen, R.Utriaynen, L.Pullinen, E.Hiltunen; famous poster and design masters I.Tapiovara, M.Kuyasalo. Folk art includes weaving fabrics and carpets, and making metal utensils.
