Home/Hospital Instruction:
Students with verified medical conditions, which prevent them from attending school, may
receive services on a temporary basis in the home or hospital with a physician’s referral.

HEARING IMPAIRMENT: An impairment in
hearing, whether permanent or fluctuating, that
adversely affects a child’s educational
performance but that is not included under the
definition of deafness in this section [34 CFR
§300.8(c)(5)].

Informal assessment
When a teacher decides whether a learner is doing well or not, or whether a course is successful or not, by evaluating
learners by thinking about their strengths and weaknesses and thinking about their progress rather than setting a test or

Inclusion or Inclusive Education: Providing accommodations and supports to enable allstudents to receive an
appropriate and meaningful education in the same setting, including participation in extracurricular and
nonacademic activities; full participation in the general education curriculum.
