Birthdays

  I love celebrating my birthdays. Because it is definitely pleasant to hear birthday wishes from your friends and family members, and receiving presents is even more pleasant.

  I always throw a party on my birthday, because it has become a tradition within the circle of my friends to hold a birthday party. It is fun and very enjoyable.
  
• 
  My last birthday was on…We decided to go to the mountains and have a picnic to celebrate my birthday. Generally, I tend to invite my friends to a restaurant, but last year my friends suggested celebrating my birthday a bit differently and going to the mountains.

  I distinctly remember my birthday when I turned 7. Because on that day I received a bicycle from my father as a birthday gift that I had been wanting to have one for about 2 years, I think. All of my friends had a bicycle and I was the only one who couldn`t ride a bike. It was the best present ever I had received as a child.

  It is typical to celebrate not only birthdays but also other special occasions with a party. That`s because people in my country like family-gatherings.

  I am not sure about other regions, but in Bukhara since we ethnically belong to Persians and Tajiks, we celebrate every other twelfth birthday in a special way; for example, we have to wear only white and new clothes. It is part of our local cultural traditions that has passed down from generation to generation.
  

Family and friends

  I have been studying hard for the last two years to get into university, for this reason I haven`t been able to spend a lot of time with my family. Nevertheless, I hope to spend more quality time with my parents as soon as I get rid of my heavy study-load.

  Actually, I am close with both of my parents, but I think I have a bit closer relationship with my mom because I usually turn to her for a piece advice and not to my father, maybe because he is a strict person and can scold me for my misdeeds.

  My best friend is …We have been close friends with him ever since we started going to school. He is my soul-mate and a close friend who is ready to offer an unconditional help whenever necessary.

  I have remained friends and still keep in touch with most of my friends from childhood whereas our friendship with those who left for other countries have drifted apart over the years because of a lack of contact.
  
• 
  I believe it is impossible to find any country or culture where family is not important. Moreover, speaking from observations, it seems to me that attitude towards family and parents is relatively stronger in the oriental countries because, I don`t want to sound rude, but we never leave our parents alone. In other words, we tend to live together with our parents and care for them as long as it is necessary.
