 ONE VERSE WONDERS

Nearly every cult in existence bases some of its pet (and FALSE) doctrines on ONE verse of the Bible.

What could possibly be wrong with that, since they are USING Scripture?

SATAN ALSO USED Scripture. (Matthew 4:5-6)

And he had the gall to quote it TO JESUS, no less!

satan used THE ONE verse that suited his interests, BUT DELIBERATELY IGNORED OTHER VERSES that said we are not to tempt God.

His underhanded tactic fell flat when Jesus answered: “IT IS ALSO WRITTEN: you shall not test the Lord your God”. (Matthew 4:7)

The "ONE verse" IS ALWAYS TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT in order to “justify” some false teaching and to make that false teaching “seem” biblical.

That is EXACTLY what satan did.

Satan INVENTED that evil scheme: he thought of it, and DID IT, LONG BEFORE it crossed the depraved minds of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, Ellen G. White, Alexander Campbell, Charles Taze Russell, Mary Baker Eddy, or Herbie “the pervy” Armstrong.

The ONE verse in question is also BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION while many OTHER VERSES, which refer to THE SAME TOPIC, are TOTALLY and DELIBERATELY ignored.

A couple of examples:

1) Jehovah’s Witnesses teach, based supposedly on Revelation 14:1-5, that ONLY 144,000 Christians will go to heaven.

Problems are:

A) That the 144,000 mentioned in the Book of Revelation are NOT “Christians”, they are NATURAL ISRAELITES. (Revelation 7:1-8).

B) That Jehovah’s Witnesses DISMISS Revelation 7:9 where A HUGE MULTITUDE that NO ONE CAN COUNT APPEARS IN HEAVEN before God’s Throne.

That the multitude consists ENTIRELY of CHRISTIANS is evident since they worship Jesus, the Lamb (Revelation 7:14).

Thus they MISUSE ONE verse of the Bible IN ORDER TO CONTRADICT God, and replace His Truth with THEIR false doctrine.

2) Seventh Day Adventists use Genesis 2:2 to push MANDATORY Saturday observance:

Problems are:

A) The REAL 7^th Day transcends earth “time”, which IS A FALSE PREMISE to begin with. (Isaiah 14:13-14; Amos 5:13; Matthew 6:34; Ephesians 5:16)

God never blessed and sanctified a 24 hour day. He blessed and sanctified THE 7^TH DAY which is ETERNAL (that is why it has NO “EVENING” OR “MORNING”). (Genesis 2:2; Zechariah 14:6)

B) They DELIBERATELY ignore Colossians 2:16-17 which instructs Christians NOT to allow ANYONE TO JUDGE THEM with regards to Saturdays, and refers to the 24-hour 7^th day AS A MERE SHADOW.

Shadows are NEVER, the REAL thing. Never!!!

C) They also INTENTIONALLY ignore John 5:18 which EXPLICTLY SAYS that Jesus repeatedly broke the 24-hour Sabbath as commanded in the Sinai Law, for which Jews sought to kill Him.

That’s why YOU’LL NEVER HEAR these two verses quoted at a 7^th Day Adventist building, or taught in Sabbatical school.

Even though these verses are as God-inspired AS THE REST OF THE BIBLE, they are conveniently SWEPT UNDER THE RUG, because they DO NOT serve to advance that denomination’s agenda.

I wish this misuse of Scripture only took place among heretical sects. Unfortunately, it happens too often among born-again Christians.

In the case of REAL Christians it usually happens because of DISHONESTY, IGNORANCE, or a combination of the two.

For instance, someone read my recent message about the 10 days of tribulation, and wrote that she always believed that Christians would go through SOME tribulation because Israel was in Egypt when the first three plagues took place, and only from the 4^th plague forward did God differentiate between His people and the Egyptians.

Therefore, she concluded THAT THE CHURCH would likewise experience THREE PLAGUES.

While that part of Israel’s history IS TRUE, here are the problems:

A) There’s NO INDICATION ANYWHERE that EVERYTHING that happened to Israel 3,500 years ago must happen to the Church.

God killed every Egyptian firstborn back then, does that mean God will AGAIN KILL ALL FIRSTBORNS just prior to the Church’s Departure?

I don’t see that ANYWHERE in Scripture.

B) Jesus had NOT DIED and RESURRECTED 3,500 years ago: His death, His Blood, His Resurrection and Ascension HAVE MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD.

That is why we live under a NEW and BETTER Covenant, established on INFINITELY BETTER promises, than the Israelites. (Hebrews 7:22; 8:6)

C) Last, but not least, the Church appears in heaven under THE 6^TH SEAL, BEFORE tribulation judgments begin, BEFORE ANY TRUMPETS OF JUDGMENT ARE BLOWN, and BEFORE any plagues happen.

The tribulation plagues ALL HAPPEN under THE 7^TH SEAL and 6^th trumpet, LONG AFTER the Church is raptured.  (Revelation 9:18-20; 11:6; 15:1; chapter 16)

It is therefore IMPOSSIBLE for Christ’s Church to experience ANY plagues.

The ONLY “tribulation” we experience are 10 days of life “not as usual”.

Another example is those who have tried FOR CENTURIES to discover the Antichrist’s identity.

THE REASON THEY HAVE FAILED SO MISERABLY is because they take two or three things Scripture says about Antichrist, and THEN IGNORE EVERYTHING ELSE GOD SAYS ABOUT him.

The ONLY WAY we establish his identity, conclusively and authoritatively, IS BY TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION EVERYTHING that God said about him.

Other VERY IMPORTANT factors to consider when formulating doctrine are:

1. TIMING: Was that statement made BEFORE or AFTER Calvary?

Calvary CHANGED EVERYTHING.

And those who DON’T UNDERSTAND that it DID are NOT Christian.

2) TO WHOM is the statement addressed? Jews? Christians? All believers?

3) SETTING: WHERE is the speaker? What is going on in that place, and at that time?

4) THE CIRCUMSTANCES: WHAT IS GOING ON at the time, and AROUND the situation being discussed?

We shouldn’t even FORM AN OPINION based on ONLY ONE VERSE, much less establish doctrine on it.

We DON'T formulate doctrine based ONLY ON one verse of Scripture.

The exception would be, of course, if there is ONLY ONE VERSE in the entire Bible that mentions a given subject.

That, however, RARELY happens. And, when it does, it usually speaks about something rather inconsequential.

DON'T BE a "one verse wonder".

Scripture is correctly understood ONLY WHEN WE TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION EVERYTHING that God says about a given topic.

Let us JOIN OUR HEARTS to worship THE ONE AND ONLY GOD AND SAVIOR, Jesus Christ: THE ONLY ONE WHO GUARANTEES ETERNAL LIFE to ALL who RECEIVE HIM into their hearts. (John 3:16-17)

Let us do it IN SPIRIT.

Breathe IN… Your spirit is located in your MID-SECTION, (where your breath goes when you inhale) in your stomach and KIDNEY AREA (behind the stomach).

Let’s focus ON THAT INNER AREA, in the CENTER OF our beings, and praise Jesus from there:

We praise you ETERNAL and Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit…

FROM THE VERY DEPTHS of our beings and with grateful hearts we offer you thanksgiving, praise, adoration, LOVE, exaltation, and glory.

Thank you Father! Thank you Jesus! Thank you Holy Spirit!

Thank you that YOU ARE… that YOU ARE. (Exodus 3:14)

Thank you that from eternity to eternity… YOU ARE. (Psalm 90:2)

Thank you that you will DESCEND FROM HEAVEN very soon, with a shout, with THE VOICE OF THE ARCHANGEL and with the trumpet (shofar) of God…

Thank you for SO GREAT Salvation!

Holy Spirit, we WELCOME you AND ASK TO PRESIDE OVER this Communion service. We ask that YOUR WILL, and ONLY YOUR WILL be done. Amen and Amen.

Lord, there is A LOT we don’t know. There is SO MUCH that I don’t know. But we do know, from what you said in your written Word, that your appearing MUST BE VERY near.

We HAVE YOUR MORE SURE WORD OF PROPHECY THAT POINTS TO THIS PARTICULAR TIME. And we are witnessing EVERY THING that you predicted would happen just prior to it.

Surely, THE GREAT EVIL in this world cannot go on much longer WITHOUT YOU JUDGING IT, then ERADICATING IT.

Surely, it won’t be long now, before you RAPTURE YOUR CHURCH unto yourself, and BEFORE those judgments ARE POURED on the wicked.

Amen. COME, LORD JESUS!!!!!!!

Thank you that you DO NOT COUNT ANY sins against those of us WHO TRUST YOU COMPLETELY for Salvation, and in whose hearts YOU LIVE FOREVER. (2 Corinthians 5:19)

Thank you that you CREDIT your own perfect righteousness to all who RECEIVE YOU into their hearts and TRUST WHAT YOU DID, and NOT what we do. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Hallelujah! Glory to you, Lord Jesus! Praise your Name!

We CONFESS that You ARE LORD FOREVER…TO THE GLORY of God the Father.

Thank you, Lord Jesus FOR DOING EVERYTHING NECESSARY TO GUARANTEE OUR ETERNAL SALVATION.

We praise you. We ADORE YOU, with ALL our hearts, with every particle of our beings.

We will partake of the Body and Blood of our Lord, in Holy Communion, in just a few moments.

If you haven’t already done so, please get some wine or grape juice and some bread, cracker or matzo bread, and have it ready.

If you don’t have grape juice, I promise you, dear evangelicals, that Jesus won’t fall off His Throne if you drink a little wine…

BEFORE we partake, let us examine ourselves, and – even though God does not count ANY sin against us by virtue of Jesus’ eternal Sacrifice – we owe it to Him, out of RESPECT for THE UNFATHOMABLE PRICE HE PAID, to confess ANY sin we may have committed.

Let’s take a few seconds to do just that…

Father, WE CONFESS our sins, in particular the sin of _____________. We humble ourselves before you, AND ask your forgiveness, KNOWING THAT WE ALREADY HAVE IT. Holy Spirit we ask you to SEARCH our hearts, search EVERY AREA OF OUR LIVES, and if there be ANY wicked way in us, PLEASE CLEANSE IT and REMOVE IT FROM US.

Forgive us, Lord.

Jesus, forgive me FOR EVERY TIME that I have been UNLOVING, every time that I have NOT manifested your perfect love. Forgive me for every trace of pride, for you resist the proud but GIVE GRACE TO the humble. FORGIVE US for the pathological need to nitpick, to split theological hairs, to correct one another, to impose OUR WILL on you and on our brothers and sisters, and TO PUT OUR OWN DESIRES ABOVE YOURS.

Forgive us for holding grudges against others.

For SELFISHNESS, and thinking it’s all about “me, me, me, me and me”.

Forgive us for being UNGRATEFUL toward those who help us, bless us and minister to us.

Forgive us for all the times WE HAVE LIED (supposedly) “in your Name”.

Forgive us for using YOUR HOLY NAME FOR PROFIT and personal gain.

Forgive us for CONTRADICTING, adding and subtracting from YOUR WRITTEN Word.

Forgive us for NOT believing what you said.

Forgive us for twisting, misquoting and manipulating YOUR WRITTEN WORD, for taking it OUT OF CONTEXT, to ACCOMMODATE our own greed and carnality.

Forgive us FOR IGNORING the inner man of the spirit: For not living in Jesus and AS Jesus.

Forgive us for making sin “god”, for EMPHASIZING sin, and FOCUSING ON sin, instead of focusing ON YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS, YOUR SALVATION, YOUR ETERNAL LIFE. If it is ETERNAL, then it is FOREVER ours, and CANNOT -- under any circumstances -- be lost. Thank you, Jesus!

Forgive us, Oh, Lord for DIMINISHING what you did, your TREMENDOUS Work of Redemption, and having MORE FAITH in sins’ ability to damn us, THAN IN YOUR BLOOD TO SAVE US.

Forgive us, Lord, for KNOWINGLY and INTENTIONALLY WITHHOLDING KNOWLEDGE from our brothers and sisters. For keeping your Body ignorant, for it is KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH, that SETS US FREE. (Hosea 4:6; John 8:32)

Unknown and UNSHARED Truth DOESN’T SET ANYONE FREE.

And Truth (You) MUST BE KNOWN both CONSCIOUSLY and experientially.(Matthew 7:23; Colossians 2:2-3; Philippians1:9; 2 Peter 1:5-6; 3:18)

Forgive us for being complacent, and content with the status quo. Forgive us for being spiritually lazy, and SETTLING FOR mediocrity, when you have CALLED US TO excellence.

Forgive us for living as helpless slaves, when you have called us and PREDESTINED US TO RULE and be SONS and MASTERS. (Galatians 4:1)

Forgive us for neglecting your Holy Word, and replacing it with religious entertainment and the OPINIONS OF MORTALS.

Forgive us, OH LORD, for THE MANY DIVISIONS in your Body.

We have MUTILATED your Body almost beyond recognition.

This, when you TOLD US SO CLEARLY that there HAD TO BE DIFFERENT PARTS, but they are ALL necessary, and they all belong to ONE and THE SAME Body. Instead of appreciating those differences, we have ALIENATED THOSE PARTS, and said “WE HAVE NO NEED OF YOU”. (1 Corinthians 12:1-31)

Jesus, we REPENT, and we acknowledge before you THAT ALL THE PARTS OF YOUR BODY NEED EACH OTHER: Catholics NEED “protestants” and “protestants” NEED Catholics. Baptists need Methodists, and Methodists need Baptists… We DON’T NEED RELIGION, but we surely need ONE ANOTHER. We acknowledge that the WHOLE Body of Christ CANNOT BE just an eye, or a hand, or a foot: That ALL MEMBERS are necessary, or we DON’T HAVE a Body: That DIFFERENCES are NECESSARY, as long as they are in line with your Word and your Spirit.

We repent.

We choose to CHANGE the way we think and feel.

We ask you for the grace TO SUPERNATURALLY CHANGE OUR HEARTS ON THIS -- and ON ANYTHING ELSE that needs changing.

Help us, Oh Lord, TO DISCERN the Body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:29)

Forgive us, Lord.

Forgive me, Lord.

Forgive me, Lord Jesus. I am unworthy to be called your son/daughter. Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Jesus, your Body needs to be SPIRITUALLY healthy and whole. But while we are still in these flesh and blood bodies, we also need to be PHYSICALLY whole:

I rebuke all manner of sickness and COMMAND IT, IN THE NAME OF JESUS, to leave that brother, that sister.

Pain and discomfort, BE GONE in Jesus’ Name!

Arthritis, LEAVE right NOW!

Hearing problems, DISAPPEAR in the Name of Jesus!

Heart disease, diabetes I DESTROY YOU in the Name of Jesus, and blast you out of time and space.

Eyesight be healed and restored in Jesus’ Mighty Name.

Blood circulation, BE NORMAL AND PERFECT in the Name of Jesus!

Nervous system disorders, psychological disorders, BE HEALED in Jesus’ Name. I command the PEACE OF GOD to settle in your hearts and minds, for Jesus’ glory. Amen.

I command EVERY SPIRIT of infirmity TO LEAVE AT ONCE, in the Name of Jesus.

Thank you, Lord, that BY YOUR STRIPES WE ARE HEALED. (Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24)

This is THE ABSOLUTE Truth, and in your Name which is ABOVE EVERY NAME, I superimpose Divine Health, which is ETERNAL, PERMANENT TRUTH, ON EVERY TEMPORARY condition and AILMENT.

Body of Christ, BE HEALED! In Jesus’ Mighty Name! Amen.

Almighty God, please remember your Covenant with Israel, both natural and spiritual.

Bless your Chosen ones, oh Lord. Protect them now and in the days to come. We pray for the Peace of Jerusalem. We speak SALVATION and PEACE to every physical descendant of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Let every one of us LOVE Israel, and BLESS ISRAEL for your honor and glory. Thank you, Jesus, for your faithfulness.

Thank you for the Word you spoke through your holy prophets that ASSURES US, that even after 3-1/2 years of oppression and persecution, THE WHOLE HOUSE OF ISRAEL WILL COME TO LIFE. (Ezekiel 37:11) Hallellujah! Glory to you forever and forever! Amen.

We pray for Christian brothers and sisters throughout the world, particularly those in the Middle East, in Syria, Iraq, and Iran, Nigeria, Libya, Egypt, Burma, North Korea, China, Pakistan, Indonesia. Lord, regardless of what denomination they may be, whether they be Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, evangelical, or WHATEVER, please protect them. If they must die, as foretold in Revelation 6:9-11, please Lord give them the grace and strength to STAND FIRM ON THEIR FAITH TO THE VERY END, KNOWING that you are THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE, and that those who believe in you, EVEN IF THEY ARE DEAD, EVEN IF THEY ARE MURDERED BY EVIL men, yet SHALL THEY LIVE. (John 11:25)

Let them experience your Presence and your Peace which passes ALL human understanding. Thank you that you never leave us nor forsake us: That you are with us (and them) always EVEN UNTO THE END OF THE AGE. Hallelujah!

We look forward to seeing trillions and trillions of our brothers and sisters in glory. For your sake we ask it. Amen.

We pray for those who call themselves Christian, and have a form of “godliness”, but who have NEVER KNOWN YOU, HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED YOU in their innermost being, in the born-again experience. Please Jesus, please Holy Spirit, touch their hearts and make them realize THAT YOU, AND YOU ALONE, are Salvation: That they MUST be born again of your Spirit. (John 3:5) That Salvation is NOT what we do or not do ON THE OUTSIDE, Salvation is JESUS LIVING INSIDE.

We pray for skeptics, agnostics and atheists. For all those trapped in false religions and enslaved by false “gods”, that they may EXPERIENCE THE FREEDOM OF YOUR SPIRIT. For you, Lord, are the spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is THERE IS FREEDOM!!!

Praise you, Lord Jesus!

We pray for those who would be our enemies, and we bless them. Bless that person (name him or her) ______________ that has wished me harm, done evil to me, and has actually hurt me. Please Jesus SAVE THEM. Grant them repentance and forgiveness. Give them saving faith.

We ask these things for your eternal glory. Amen.

If ANYONE reading this has NEVER GIVEN his or her heart to Jesus, if anyone is UNSURE of their Salvation, NOW is the time to RECEIVE HIM into the deepest parts of your being, and TO MAKE SURE that you are saved COMPLETELY and FOREVER (Hebrews 7:25).

Brothers and sisters, let us read this passage from the Gospel of John:

“I AM the LIVING BREAD which came down from heaven: IF ANY MAN EAT OF THIS BREAD, HE SHALL LIVE FOREVER: AND THE BREAD THAT I WILL GIVE IS MY FLESH, which I will give for the LIFE of the world.

52The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, HOW CAN THIS MAN GIVE US HIS FLESH TO EAT?

53Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, EXCEPT YOU EAT THE FLESH OF THE SON OF MAN, AND DRINK HIS BLOOD, YOU HAVE NO LIFE IN YOU.

54WHOEVER EATS MY FLESH, AND DRINKS MY BLOOD, HAS ETERNAL LIFE; AND I WILL RAISE HIM UP AT THE LAST DAY.

55For MY FLESH IS FOOD INDEED, AND MY BLOOD IS DRINK INDEED.

56He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in me, and I in him.

…Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, THIS IS A HARD SAYING; WHO CAN HEAR IT?

61When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, DOES THIS OFFEND YOU?

62What if you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

63IT IS THE SPIRIT THAT GIVES LIFE; THE FLESH PROFITS NOTHING: THE WORDS THAT I SPEAK UNTO YOU (in context, about eating His flesh and drinking His Blood), THEY ARE SPIRIT, AND THEY ARE LIFE. (John 6:51-63)

Sadly, this passage has tripped up so many! Just like Jews stumbled on it when they heard it almost 2,000 years ago, many Christians stumble on it today:

Some have NO CLUE what Jesus was saying, and just sweep it under the rug. While others claim that Salvation consists of eating a piece of bread which magically transforms into Jesus’ ACTUAL flesh and Blood.

The Life of which Jesus spoke has LITTLE TO DO WITH PUTTING A PIECE OF BREAD into our mouths, or about drinking some wine or juice. Those are just SYMBOLS, OUTWARD REPRESENTATIONS of WHAT HAS TAKEN PLACE INSIDE OF US:

We have IN SPIRIT “INGESTED” (RECEIVED, TAKEN IN) the flesh and Blood of Jesus: that is to say, JESUS HIMSELF.

Eating a piece of bread or drinking a sip of wine – DOES NOT SAVE ANYONE.

In order to RECEIVE Christ, His flesh and Blood MUST BE SPIRITUALLY INGESTED.

We “eat His flesh” and “drink His Blood” FOR THE INSIDE, FROM THE DEEPEST RECESSES OF OUR INNER MAN.

WHY? Because Jesus Himself told us THAT THE FLESH PROFITS NOTHING. THAT ONLY THE SPIRIT GIVES LIFE.

These things are MEANINGLESS UNLESS WE “EAT AND DRINK JESUS” IN SPIRIT.

His flesh and His Blood are REAL SPIRIT SUBSTANCE.

THAT is the “flesh and blood” that give us ETERNAL life.

Jesus used “eating and drinking” in the flesh to HELP US LOCATE THE SPIRIT WITHIN US and TO ILLUSTRATE the deeper Truth: that GOD IS SPIRIT (John 4:24) food and drink end up in our stomach. And WHERE is our spirit located??? IN OUR STOMACH!

With THAT understanding, let us know partake of Holy COMMUNION. Let us REMEMBER THAT:

The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said: Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Let us now partake of the bread (His Body)… NOT JUST WITH OUR MOUTHS, but from our innermost being.

After the same manner also he took the cup, after he had eaten, saying: This cup IS THE NEW TESTAMENT IN MY BLOOD: DO THIS, as often as you drink it, IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.

Let us now partake of the cup (His Blood)… NOT ONLY INTO OUR MOUTHS, but FROM THE DEPTHS OF OUR INNER BEING.

For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

By this, Lord Jesus, we remember WHAT YOU DID IN ORDER TO SAVE US. THE UNIMAGINABLE PRICE YOU PAID TO SECURE OUR ETERNAL LIFE. And we proclaim that ONLY THROUGH FAITH (COMPLETE CONFIDENCE) in your death and resurrection are we saved.

Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus.

We bow before you, King of kings and Lord of lords. We thank you and praise you, God of the universe, Almighty One.

We adore you with every fiber of our beings. We give you ALL THE PRAISE, THE LOVE, THE THANKSGIVING, THE GRATITUDE, THE HONOR AND THE GLORY FOR ALL THE AGES to come, eternity without end. Amen and amen.

Please Jesus, COME. Let THIS be the year of your APPEARING. Let THIS be the year we all are CAUGHT UP to be IN PERFECT communion with you forever. Amen.

The Spirit and the Bride say: “Come. Please COME, Lord Jesus. Please”. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this Holy Communion with all of us.

And now brothers and sisters, be greatly blessed: I speak perfect health to you, Body of Christ, and PERFECT UNITY OF THE SPIRIT and OF THE FAITH. Grace and Peace be with you, in the Name of the Father, the Son (our Lord and Savior Jesus of Nazareth) and the Holy Spirit.

THE MYTH OF GOOD FRIDAY

I have an EMBARRASSING CONFESSION to make:

I was in my mid-20’s before it dawned on me that Jesus is Jewish.

Being raised Roman Catholic, and having been exposed to Lutheranism and 7^th Day Adventism.

NOT ONCE did I hear ANYONE mention Jesus’ ethnicity: NOT ONCE!

I didn’t hear it from the pulpit, didn’t learn it in either Sabbatical School or Sunday School. Didn’t read it in any Catechism, didn’t hear any priest, pastor or nun talk about.

And even though we heard the Christmas story where Bethlehem is mentioned somehow the mental connection was not made.

Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the shepherd, the wise men, had all been religiously sanitized to conform to religious tradition.

The traditional view in Christianity is that Jesus was crucified on a Friday and rose from the dead on Sunday.

This is based on the gospels' statement that, when His body was taken down from the cross, the Sabbath was approaching. (Luke 23:54)

Hence, religionists reason, it must have been Friday (John 19:31).
