Craiova - IntenCity
If you are looking for a relaxing and charmful new place to discover, Craiova is the best to choose for a city break.
Craiova is a city of creative and generous people, with amazing old buildings and green spaces, good vide and fascinating traditions and gastronomy, ready to be revealed. Is the place where local artists give color to each urban space - pedestrian alleys, parks, walls, benches and gardens transforming them into genuine micro cultural centers.
ROTTERDAM IS WHERE IT’S HAPPENING!
Rotterdam is a young, dynamic global city, continuously renewing itself at a rapid rate. Sparkling skyscrapers, an impressive port, trendy restaurants and food markets, renowned museums and awesome festivals are the direct result of the can-do mentality of the Rotterdammers. Add to that the many attractions and city tours – by bike, bus, boat or on foot – and you understand why Rotterdam was voted Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2016.
Full of energy and innovation, Rotterdam reinvented itself after the bombing of the Second World War. It broke with the past and chose modern architecture. The motto: light, air and space, was ground breaking for that time. Rotterdam still embraces experimentation: almost anything is possible. Here, you are constantly surprised by new initiatives: from a rooftop city farm to a music festival in the harbour, from an exclusive rooftop bar to a brewery in an old warehouse.
If you love architecture then a visit to Rotterdam - with its patchwork of architectural styles - is a must. Icons of the Nieuwe Bouwen era stand beside the typical reconstruction-architecture from the sixties, seventies and eighties. They clash cheerfully with the hypermodern landmarks that have been built in recent decennia: the Erasmusbrug, Rotterdam Central Station, De Rotterdam, the Timmerhuis and of course the Markthal. In the first indoor market hall in the Netherlands, you can find nearly 100 fresh produce stalls, about 15 food shops and diverse restaurants including Jamie’s Italian (from Jamie Oliver). If you look up you will see the biggest artwork in the Netherlands, the wall painting the Horn of Plenty.
Rotterdam also has a rich cultural scene centred largely around the cultural axis between Museumpark and Witte de Withstraat. This area includes acclaimed museums like Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Kunsthal Rotterdam and The New Institute, where large and small (international) exhibitions for old and new art, design and photography are presented. Other renowned museums include the Nederlands Fotomuseum at Kop van Zuid and the Maritime Museum which brings the seafaring world of the past, present and the future to life.
At the beginning of the 20 th century, Bilbao was the great economic icon of the Basque Country and amongst the most important cities in the State. Its outstanding expansion and significant cultural development would only be interrupted by the Civil War (1936-1939), but the city would soon recover its capacity to generate wealth, becoming an attractive area for immigrants searching for a job in its flourishing industry. The urban and industrial landscapes would change to face rapid expansion, growing beyond the city's boundaries and reaching neighbouring towns on both sides of the ría del Nervión, thus forming today's Great Bilbao.
However, after Bilbao's economic boom, the iron and steel industry fell into a deep crisis at the end of the 20 th century that forced the city to think the foundations of its economic development over. Within a few years, the city and its outskirts were obliged to face the challenge of industrial restructuring and to deal with its negative consequences.
After years of financial uncertainty, Bilbao has once again become a dynamic city, full of amenities and focused on environmental and urban regeneration. With its lands freed from the old industrial settlements, the city is now undergoing a new physical transformation, becoming more and more appealing to visitors. The impressive Guggenheim Museum and the Euskalduna Palace, a conference and music centre, have become the icons of the new Bilbao, a city that is gradually regaining space and handing it back to the people.
Basel is situated in the heart of Europe, bordering Germany and France. A combination of authentic Swiss quality and a multicultural population make this city unmistakably cosmopolitan and innovative.
These characteristics are also borne out in Basel’s many spectacular buildings designed by renowned architects. They present a fascinating contrast to the historic and picturesque Old Town and round out the image of this modern city. As you explore, you can view architectural masterpieces by luminaries such as Herzog & de Meuron, Mario Botta and Frank O. Gehry.
Due to its density of museums, Basel is further considered as the cultural capital of Switzerland. The city boasts 40 museums on a relatively small area. With various subjects and world-renowned special exhibitions, there is something for every taste. Furthermore, Basel is the home of Art Basel, the most important contemporary art fair in the world.
Poznan is Poland's 5th largest city and one of its oldest. Situated halfway between Warsaw and Berlin, it combines a unique heritage with rich cultural offer, lively atmosphere and spirit of entrepreneurship.
This is the very place where Polish statehood was born in the 10th century. It is believed that Duke Mieszko I was baptised here, joining the ranks of medieval European rulers.
Among the must-see attractions you will find Stary Rynek (The Old Market Square). With its magnificent Renaissance Town Hall and Billy Goats it remains the city’s biggest attraction since the 13th century.
Poznan might also surprise you. You will see an enormous medieval-like castle, which in fact is the youngest castle in Europe, built in the early 20th century for German emperor Wilhelm II.
"Stary Browar” (Old Brewery) actually no longer produces beer. It has become a shopping, art and business centre. In 2006 it was awarded as The Best Medium Size Shopping Centre in the World.
One of Poznan's many strong points is its distinctive, regional cuisine. It will please the gourmands' palates as well. Tens from Poznan's hundreds of of restaurants are recommended by the Polish edition of the prestigious Gault&Millau Yellow Guide.
Poznanians live in a city of greenery with numerous parks, like the Citadel Park and large recreation complexes with Lake Malta just 3 km from the city centre. You may call Poznan a compact city suitable to discover on foot or by bicycle.
Poznan is a host to international festivals, such as: the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition (the oldest event of its kind in the world), Malta Festival, Ethno Port (deemed to be one of the 25 best world music festivals in the world) or the International Ice Sculpture Festival.
Last but not least you cannot forget that Poznan is a city with a long tradition of international trade. Poznan International Fair, with its nearly 100 years of history, is the largest organiser of fairs and congresses in Central-Eastern Europe.

Copenhagen is a popular city when it comes to hosting congresses and conventions; consistently ranking among the world's top ten. Within 20 minutes of the city centre, and close to the Øresund Bridge to Sweden, lies Scandinavia's largest showcase. The Bella Convention & Exhibition Centre covers 122,000 square metres and has a capacity of 20,000 concurrent congress participants. In terms of smaller scale gatherings, most hotels in Copenhagen and Malmo offer ample facilities to cater to larger meetings, events and conferences. The family owned hotel chain Arp-Hansen has a Copenhagen Downtown Congress Centre that opened in the fall of 2010. Copenhagen is known for its low crime rate, its general efficiency and the high standard of its cultural and entertainment attractions.

Copenhagen is one of Europe's finest shopping destinations and has become a first class gourmet experience, with Michelin star restaurants, and Noma that was voted the worlds' best restaurant in 2010. The city's main shopping area is centred on the longest pedestrian street in Europe, Strøget, and the charming 17th century streets surrounding it. Apart from Magasin du Nord, the biggest department store in Scandinavia, Copenhagen boasts hundreds of boutiques, restaurants, and cafés. Danish design items such as Bang and Olufsen stereos, Royal Copenhagen porcelain and Georg Jensen silverware, are world famous. All have flagship stores in Copenhagen.
Denmark is renowned for the high standard of living they offer their inhabitants. In their latest survey into the standard of living in the world's cities, the renowned consultancy firm William M. Mercer positioned Copenhagen as number five in its 'Best Cities' list. Monocle Magazine placed Copenhagen as nr.1 and as nr.2 on its top twenty list of most liveable cities, citing its excellent transport, quality housing, superb shopping, and abundant culture among the reasons they'd like to live here. They could also have mentioned that the inflation rate in Denmark has been one of the lowest in Europe for many years and that the economy remains strong. Tourism is an important source of foreign currency and employment.
Steeped in its evocative history and the rapid changes that have taken place over the past two decades, Berlin today exerts its own particular fascination. More than twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany, the capital projects itself as a young, dynamic and cosmopolitan city at the heart of Europe which is constantly re-inventing itself. Variety is guaranteed, but you can also travel to the German capital for rest and relaxation. In Berlin a fast paced metropolis and relaxing rest areas in nature are not far apart. Whether in Tiergarten, Tempelhofer Freiheit, Görlitzer Park or Grunewald – every district has its “green oasis”, which improves the quality of living and allows visitors to take a short break.
