PHILOSOPHY OF BEAUTY IN MATHEMATICS 
BULATOV S.S., Tashkent state pedagogical university named after Nizami, 
Kukaldash medrasah is considered to be one of the amazing memorial monuments of Tashkent city. Kulbobo 
Kukaldash had it built in 1551-1575. It is located in Tashkent’s central Charsu area, which was known by the name of 
Binakent in the 9th-10th centuries.Four squares are beautifully decorated at its two sides where the image of wheel is 
ornamented. This image is very common nearly in all Central Asian architectural monuments which has never been 
scientifically analysed so far. And we have never come across any single source where information about its scientific 
analyses could be found. 
So what does this ornament with four similar patterns in the form of a square mean which still exists on the 
portal of Kukaldash medrasah? 
Practically, there are no meaningless ornaments or words. Therefore, let’s try to analyse the ornament being 
spoken about. 
If we have a look at the square, we can witness that it is divided into nine cells and contains the name of the 
Creator and other four words that mean
“Muhammad” in the Arabic script. As regards to the form, a big wheel is depicted clockwise and the other four 
small ones anticlockwise (Figures 1, 2). 
In the square a dynamic and clockwise wheel is fully described. The wheel is the symbol of eternal movement, 
which also means that the universe is in movement eternally (Figure 3). 
In Figure 6, the word “Muhammad” is written inside the four cells that are at the corners of the square. The 
word “Allah” and the other four words meaning “Muhammad” are written in light blue. This means that Allah sent His 
Messenger, i.e. the last prophet Muhammad (saas), who was the true example of a perfect man, to the four sides of the 
world for instruction. It also means that Muhammad is the symbol of good will and teaches that one can reach 
perfection only then when he/she follows the five Islamic rules in this transitory world. 
In Figure 7, the internal four cells of the wheel contain smaller wheels that are reverse to the clockwise 
movement of the bigger one. This means that there exist dark forces in the world against the Creator, good will and 
mankind. It also implies that the transitory world consists of good and evil, i.e. life is consisted of opposites. 
One of the most valuable spiritual heritages left by our ancestors is not only about enabling people to catch the 
beauty of the historical inner and outer ornaments but also understand the philosophy of beauty and pass it over 
to generations.
