4. Tourism
Tourism is a broad concept that is often used interchangeably with hospitality. Hospitality and Tourism Management is the name of several research degrees in the region, including mine. Tourism offices, travel management agencies (such as Visit London and Visit New York), and several tour operators make up the tourism industry, which allows you to enjoy the destination in a variety of ways. Imagine landing in a new world without access to a free city map or a schedule of local bus tours. Much of this is managed by the tourism industry, which also keeps track of the impact of tourism movements and patterns.
