Gap and Go - Buying the One Minute Opening Range Breakout (ORB)
When a Gap and Go candidate opens in between support and resistance levels, I use the 
À
rst 
one minute candle as my trigger candle. The top of the 
À
rst one minute candle is my entry price, 
and the low is my stop. If I enter a one minute ORB trade, and it immediately drops back down 
and breaks the low of the 
À
rst one minute candle, I will stop out. I will only buy if the second one 
minute candle breaks the high of the 
À
rst one minute candle. This is called a one minute opening 
range breakout (ORB). Occasionally, the resistance at the top of the 
À
rst one minute candle will

be noticeable on the Level2, but not always. Some traders use this exact same opening range 
breakout strategy with 
À
ve minute candles or 15 minute candles. On stocks gapping up, I use 
the one minute chart instead of the 
À
ve minute chart in order to react quickly to the volatility. 
If the one minute ORB has not occurred in the 
À
rst couple of minutes, I may switch to the 
À
ve 
minute chart and wait for a 
À
ve minute ORB. If we do not get an ORB in the 
À
rst 
À
fteen or twenty 
minutes, I move on to a different stock on my watch list. In the event of a pro
À
table one minute 
ORB trade, we may look to take additional trades on the 
À
rst pullback. A good Gap and Go stock 
will provide multiple opportunities.
