Comparative analysis essay based on the poems “My heart is in the Highlands” by Robert Burns and “IQROR” by Muhammad Yusuf.
In literature poetry is one of the best sign of showing emotions and feelings to somebody. It is the important part of Literature and cannot be summed up or critiqued in a few short words. Poetry can be written in any way shape or form. It has no mistakes, wrong answers or rules. It is solely a window to your perception, which I cannot define. One feature of poem is that it does not affect its reader in quite the same way that a work of prose does. To be able to understand poem works, you need to spend some time thinking analytically about the poem before you start analyze it. Now I’m going to compare and differentiate similarities, differences of two famous poems written by two great poets. They are “Iqror" by glorious Uzbek poet Muhammad Yusuf and “My heart is in the Highlands” written by well-known Scottish poet Robert Burns. I want to tell about about Uzbek poet Muhammad Yusuf. He was born in farmer’s family on 26 th of April in 1954 in Markhamat distict in Andijan. Its known that he was very capable and gifted boy from his childhood. The interest to the literature was appeared in his early ages and he used to write not only fiction prose but also adorable poems which we still read with pleasure. Muhammad Yusuf could perform turning the poem into song and flying the poem high. In each word of the poet’s verses there are patience and willingness to fly. He graduated from the institute of Russian language and literature. He worked in these places such as: in Booklovers’ Society of Republic , in the paper which is called “Toshkent oqshomi” (1980-1986), in the Publishing house of “Adabiyot va san’at”, in the paper, which is called “Uzbekiston ovozi”.
Muhammad Yusuf was one of the greatest poet of Uzbek folk literature. The rhyme in his poems are clearly, so it helps to the reader to catch the meaning without any difficulty. Moreover the great love, undischarged duty, the non-execution of the unrespected love, the faithfulness of sonness to the country – are based on the poems of the poet. The poem “Iqror" is his one of the unchangeable work in Uzbek literature. Even he died early on the 29 th of July in 2001, he left to us, to young generation his unforgettable feelings in his poems. Another very great poet is Scottish famous poet Robert Burns. He was born on January 25, in 1759, in Scotland. As Robert Burns was the eldest son of tenant farmers, he began life as a poor tenant farmer but was able to channel his intellectual energy into poetry and song to become one of the most famous characters of Scotland's cultural history. Many of the early founders of socialism and liberalism found inspiration in his works. He is best known as a pioneer of the Romantic movement for his lyrical poetry and his rewriting of Scottish folk songs, many of which are still well known across the world today. Burns, however, has been viewed alternately as the beginning of a literary tradition: he is often called a pre-Romantic poet for his sensitivity to nature, his high valuation of feeling and emotion, his spontaneity, his fierce stance for freedom and against authority, his individualism, and his antiquarian interest in old songs and legends. The many backward glances of Romantic poets to Burns, as well as their critical comments and pilgrimages to the locales of Burns’s life and work, suggest the validity of connecting Burns with that pervasive European cultural movement of the late 18h and early 19th centuries which shared with him a concern for creating a better world and for cultural renovation. “My heart is in the Highlands “ is eminent poet's most celebrated poem in his biggest treasure of Literature inheritance. When we compare these two poems, first we must take into consideration the similarities of both of them. The theme of the Robert Burns poem is the love of highlands. The narrator idealistically recalls his love for the highlands. It also shows a sense of gratitude, patriotism of the poet for his nation, his indebtedness to the beautiful cultural tradition. The same situation we can distinguish in Muhammad Yusuf’s poem. The author admits how he loves his Motherland and he would not change this land even to Rome and Paris. The next similarity between these works is in Burns’ poem he highlights that he use to go to highland often to play with the deer and he also chases them. Also he exclaims that it was a beautiful journey and he also says that no place can match the highland and narrates that the highland mountains are always covered with the snow. Similarly, in the poem “Iqror" the narrator describes the sides of his motherland, and imitates the place to a person whom he loves. Let’s analyse the differences between these two poems. The plot of the Scottish poet ‘s poem is about farewell and he replies that his heart is not there, his heart in the Highlands while uzbek narrator highlights his love by imitating the place into different valuable things and places. The next difference is the rhyme of both sides so we can see that the rhyme scheme of Burns poem is simple and understandable. However, the rhyme scheme of Muhammad Yusuf’s poem slightly different. In conclusion, I can say that, both of poets try to insluence to the life’s main points and want to show emotions and feelings .Despite these both greatest poets were not born in the same epochs, the life they had lived was the same. Besides, their outlook was also quite similar, not only in the sphere they had worked, but also the way of writing and describing their Motherland in their poems corresponds with each other.
