EXERCISES.

Exercise 1. Translate these weather forecasts:

Cloudy, south winds, rain at times. In Italy it will be dry and sunny. London: rain in the morning, later sunny periods. There will be showers and strong winds on the Continent today, “The temperature will not be higher than 18 degrees. Moderate north winds, partly cloudy in the south and on the Black Sea. Low Counties: fog early and late; sunny periods. There will be the storms and showers in the coastal areas to morrow. Scotland: strong winds, it will snow in the morning, later foggy and rainy. North and north-east winds with rainy periods in the extreme North of Russia. Otherwise fair and warm.

Exercise 2. Repeat the following sentences after the teacher or recording till you feel you know them by heart.

What a lovely day!

Oh, it’s lovely outside, isn’t it?

How cold it is!

How hot it is!

How dark it is!

Look! What a wonderful rainbow there is in the sky!
