SOCIOCULTURAL ASPECT OF AGING
IN MODERN RUSSIA 
The article analyzes the ideas about aging, considers its gender models 
and socio-cultural risk factors of older people in Russia in the XXI century. 
The problem of old age is relevant not only for the elderly. It is also impor-
tant for a society that seeks to reconcile the natural processes of population 
aging with economic and social challenges in the context of demographic 
changes. The purpose of the work is to analyze the phenomenon of sociocul-
tural exclusion of a person from social processes during his aging. The paper 
uses a culturological approach that identifies cultural factors represented in 
the form of norms (rules) or precedents. The authors summarize that a decent 
old age is the main achievement of modern civilization. Decent aging can be 
characterized as a complex and diverse state of people at the end of the life 
cycle. It is noted that old age is not an obstacle to the preservation and devel-
opment of the individual, his spiritual and physical health. The current level 
of socio-cultural development of Russian society involves, and in some areas 
requires the participation of older people. At the same time, older people are 
most often afraid not so much of aging itself, but of age-related stereotypes 
that exist in society and limit the opportunities for realizing the potential of 
the older generation. In order to remove the manifestations of sociocultural 
exclusion of older people and reduce the risks of social isolation for them, it 
is necessary both to positively read the customs and traditions of the attitude 
to old age, and to form new social norms based on a humanistic attitude to 
the final stage of the life cycle, taking into account the transition to a post-
industrial society.
