Introduction 
Radio Frequency Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (RFMEMS) is a 
promising technology for implementing passive devices for future wireless 
communication systems [1]. Switches have obtained more attention due to their 
frequent using in many places in the wireless communication system. RF - MEMS 
technology based switch has low insertion loss, high isolation, high linearity and 
less power consumption [1]. Its shunt capacitive switch has two stable states i.e., 
up-state and down-state [1]. Power can flow from the input port to the output port 
in switch’s upstate, while it stands at the off - state in its down-state [1-3].
Optimization of the performance of the switching structure involves many 
parameters, such as pull - in voltage, RF response (insertion loss and isolation), 
maximum displacement, and thermal conductivity, etc [1-3]. Since many 
parameters are involved, it can be seen as a multi-objective optimization problem 
(MOO) in the performance optimization of the switching material selection. 
Therefore, material selection based on MOO can be used to decrease human effort 
since a large number of materials are available in practices, which form a material 
bank together with many manufacturing processes and selection attributes [4].
Since the early work in material selection, it has been more than 40 years [4], a 
series of methods have been developed to analyze the big amount of data involved 
in material selection process so as to obtain a systematic result.
