STUFF THE TRUCK
North Fort Myers- Goodwill of Southwest Florida is helping Suncoast Estate Community prepare for hurricane season by supporting a food drive for the Suncoast Estates. On Monday, July 9 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., a Goodwill truck will be parked at the North Ft Myers Wal-Mart located at 545 Pine Island Road. Non-perishable food items will be accepted for the 2007 hurricane season.

Close to 5000 people live in Suncoast Estates, which has been billed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s largest trailer park. The food pantry helps about 300 residents a week. The threat of a bad summer season has increased the need to have a full food pantry in case trouble arises. "The stress of living in today's society is overwhelming," Susan Gillespie said. "It's hard enough to get rent paid, bills paid and be able to afford gas. That's why (the pantry) is important. "No child, no elderly, should ever have to go without food."
