What do my clothes say about me

Lesson aims:
Main aim: To practice talking about preferences in clothing and learn about what peoples` clothes say about their identity
Subsidiary aim: Vocabulary: to consolidate lexis for clothes
Phonology: to focus on pronunciation
Grammar: to revise present simple
Speaking: to give controlled oral practice

By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
- talk about clothing and preferences;
- classify clothes by occasion to wear them.

1.Introduction

  • To greet with students;

  • To check attendance; Check home tasks;

  • To ask about weather;

  • To connect it to today`s topic by giving the questions like: “What clothes do we wear in this kind of weather?”

  • To show students pictures of clothes prepared beforehand

  • To introduce the theme

  • To greet

  • Ss will respond to teacher`s questions

2.Main part

  • Explain what can clothes tell about people

  • Divide pupils in to small groups

  • Ask pupils to look at ex2 on page38

  • Draw a table with headings: national day, school, weekends, party and others

  • Ask pupils to write the letters to the correct column

  • Change the answers of the groups

  • Ask them to check the answers

  • Discuss answers with pupils

  • Ex3a What do the clothes say about these people?

  • Classify people by socioeconomic status

  • get the pupils to also focus on the context, where are the people, what are they doing. It is important that this activity is not one to discriminate, the purpose is that you can tell a lot about a person by the clothes.

  • Pupils work in groups

  • Match the pictures with headings

Summarize the topic
Ask them to bring photos or cut out pictures of different people wearing clothes for different occasion for homework
