Motivation

1.1. Warm up exercises. Optional.
a . Comparative analyse of the studied part of speech with its Modern variants.
b. Teacher gives questions for review
1.2. Teacher presents key words of the seminar

Students take part in warm up exercise.

Students try to give the definition to the key-words.



Stage II.
Presentation
(30 min)

2.1. Teacher presents the theme of today’s seminar and the consequent questions to be discussed. Gives instructions to present their explanations.
Uses slides and other visual aids to present morphological changes in ME .
2.2 Answer brain-storm questions



Students present their explanations on the stated issue. They use internet informations as well as the statements given in manuals. The rest ask questions on the problem discussed.

Stage III.
Practice
( 20 min)

3.1. Teacher explains the instructions of the exercises and tasks on Middle English on pages 75-78. ( Cable Th. A Companion to Baugh and Cable’s History of the English Language. New Jersey, 1993.)

3.2. Teacher checks their tasks.


3.4 Teacher evaluates their work.

Students identify the verb forms from Chaucer as strong or weak. (pair work). Fill in paradigms for the strong verb and the weak verb. Use it to fill in appropriate form of the verb in the lines from Chaucer. (individual work). Study the language illustrated at p. 87 to analyze ME Syntax (group work).
Students correct the mistakes of each other.

Stage IV.
Production
( 15 min)

4.1. Teacher gives the task of answering the questions using key-words.


4.2. Teacher evaluates students’ answers.


4.3. Teacher gives the theme and questions to be discussed at the next class. Gives instructions to present their speech.
