INTRODUCTION [abstract of the dissertation of Doctor of Science (DSc)]


Aim of the research work is to study the chemical and mineralogical composition, and forms of occurrence of macro- and microcomponents in order to establish the technological and mineralogical features of composite ash and slag wastes (CASW) and the development of an integrated processing technology for the extraction of macro- and microcomponents.
The objects of research are CASW from Angren and Novo-Angren TPPs, the main components of which are ash and slag waste, ash disposal, microsphere and «underburning».
The scientific novelty of the research is as follows:
through methods of physical and chemical analysis, the chemical and material composition of fuel slag have been established. Thus, fuel slag is a heterogeneous system with a variable composition, the mineral base of which contains plagioclase, wollastanite, cogenite, quartz, glassy mass (allophane), crystallized quartz, iron silicite, magnetite, aluminum silicate;
fractional, material, chemical composition and mineralogical features of the main components of CASW from Angren and Novo-Angren TPPs have been established. It has been shown that, in terms of material and mineralogical composition, composite ash, ash disposal, microsphere and «underburning» differ from each other and should be differentiated according to the technological and mineralogical principle;
the thermodynamic assessment of the interaction of macro- and microcomponents with hydrofluoric acid was carried out, and the Gibbs energy (∆G) values showed the spontaneous formation of soluble complexes [FeF6]3-, aluminum in the mullite mineral leads to the formation of a soluble complex [A1F6]3- and H2SiF6, in addition microcomponents relating to the values (∆G) form insoluble fluorides;
it is shown that, during sulfuric acid leaching along with the macrocomponents iron and aluminum, cerium effectively passes into the solution. The process proceeds according to the first order reaction for the components of the solid phase and its rate increases with increasing temperature;
for the first time the sulfuric acid extraction of rare earth metals and the kinetics of sorption on the kinetics of various cation exchangers «Purolite» were investigated; the optimal conditions for their extraction were determined on the basis of isotherms, and a sorption mechanism was proposed.
