Professor of Anthropology at

the University of Akron. She

received her B.A. from Amherst

College and her M.A. and

Ph.D. in anthropology from

the University of Pennsylvania.

She has also taught at the

University of Pennsylvania,

Walla Walla College, and

Walla Walla Community

College. Her fieldwork is set in

peri-urban Swaziland, U.S.

trailer parks, and a U.S. food bank, where she studies 

urbanization processes and their effects on gender, work, and

family health.
