MASTER’S THESIS ANNOTATSION 
Reliability and long-term operation of internal combustion engines depends 
on their technical conditions. Fuel and oil consumption, the timely release to the 
specified power and the well ignition are parameters in terms of determining the 
engine technical condition. These parameters are determined by the piston rings 
in many respects. 
The major part of the engine maintenance is replacement of piston rings. 
This is because the hinges between the piston ring and the cylinder are formed 
and the pressure in the combustion chamber decreases. As a result, the engine 
cannot supply the required power. In addition, fuel and oil consumption 
increase. 
That means, studying the influence of hinges between the piston ring and 
the cylinder wall to engine parameters and the development of recommendations 
is one of the most important issues of today which must be tackled. 
The aim of this dissertation is to justify how hinges that between the 
cylinder and piston ring are affected to the parameters of the engine and to find 
the solution to the problem. These parameters were chosen as the engine power, 
oil and fuel consumption
Spark M300 engine and D-21A engines were selected as the research 
object.
Research Methods. The following methods are used to study the influence 
of hinges between the piston ring and the cylinder wall to engine parameters: 
- experimental research methods; 
- theoretical research methods; 



- analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, modeling, abstracting 
methods. 
The scientific innovation of research results: 
- Matching the initial state of engine power, fuel and fuel consumption and the 
state of exploitation period. 
- Altering for construction of piston ring 
- Methods of installing and controlling the piston rings 
The practical significance and application of the research results is that the 
research project substantiates the amount of parameters used during the vehicle's 
life cycle. 
This dissertation includes introduction, three chapters, the conclusions and 
recommendations, the list of references and appendix
