POSSIBILITIES AND ADVANTAGES OF THE ELECTRONIC DOCUMENT 
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM 
 
One of the main advantages of an EDMS is information management; providing timely 
and accurate information at the lowest cost. For example, [3] recognized that EDMS can save 
time and money by improving the speed of searching records and eliminating the need to 
maintain a separate content infrastructure. Supporting this view, [4, 6, 8] and [9] have argued 
that time savings are the main reason for profitability. Some of the other benefits reaped range 
from decision support, upholding regulations and laws, maintaining organizational memory, 
preventing litigation, and achieving organizational effectiveness. [10, 11] and [15] list some of 
the benefits of an EDMS, including workflow and form publishing, easier retrieval of 
organizational records, and cost savings from the low use of materials such as paper. Faster and 
easier access to information, increased relevance and accuracy of information, higher turnover 
or productivity, and improved customer satisfaction and relationship management. The 
implementation of an ERMS provides various types of benefits for governments, businesses, 
individuals, and more. Most employees can create and maintain their own content, which 
allows information users to quickly receive updated and accurate snapshots of the 
organization's current activities. It enhances productivity and efficiency, enhances interactions 
between customers, business leaders, partners, employees and serves customers as a whole

through enhanced collaboration, controlled by standard operating procedures. Document 
processing such as filling, submission and access is now easier and more efficient when 
converting to electronic or web formats. He also listed the benefits that the US Air Force is 
gaining from adopting paper-to-electronic conversions, noting that they have now empowered 
US Air Force personnel as well as reduced savings by 10% and 30% in used and expected 
forms, respectively.
