Teacher observed: Ms Feruza
Lesson: English
There were several kinds of toys like blocks, dolls, automobiles in the room. When children just came in, they were immediately drawn to the dolls with intense focus. Eventhough there wasn't any way to measure their heart rate or brain wave, I could easily tell how interested they were by the way he gazed, touched and played with the dolls. Children approximately thirty minutes played in the playground then Ms Feruza started her lesson. She used different toys in order to make her lesson more interesting. The lesson lasted nearly 25 minutes. Children were divided into two groups and tried to collect similar shapes with similar colours.
I thought that the teachers did a nice job with their classroom set up. I felt like I could have kept myself busy all day just by looking at the walls and seeing the pictures of presidents and famous historic quotes by famous people of our nations past. One thing I really enjoyed was the time the teachers allotted me at the end of each class to reflect to the class. Not only throughout my past middle school, and high school experiences but also, and most importantly, my current college experiences, the temptations that I have had to endure have definitely been rewarding.
I spent most of my time in Mister Cameron’s and Miss Feruza’s classes. I felt they conducted their classes better than any other teachers I observed. They had the full attention and respect of the student in their classes. They were so creative and thought in different perspectives. I walked in the classroom and automatically felt comfortable and felt like I were needed in the classroom. All the students liked presenting in front of the class with their group projects, they were so excited to show the class their final product.
Nursery for me has proved to be a learning experience and also a challenge. There are many lessons that can be learned. You can learn more about young children’s character, who their friends are, what kind of help is needed, and what their strengths and their weaknesses are. Attending nursery helped build my confidence because my Miss Feruza was supportive and always helpful.
Mister Cameron showed the best teaching methods. When he entered the class all the students stood up and when teacher told them to sit, they took their sits. At first he asked the students to give their homework copies. At this time he inquired about some students. After seeing the homework copies, he stood up from her chair and started lesson. By this time he also came to me and assured his best possible help to me. Then he started to discuss the issues one by one. After discussing the classification of election he clarified the board.
As for the Miss Nadira’s teaching methods, she was happy and cheerful to all the students. She never had to yell at the students for doing wrong or doing badly on work. She gave praise to the students for doing well. Even when the students got off track from the question she ask. She would just say that was interesting and go back to the question she started with. All the students were exited to answer question with their hands swing in the air. When I first got to the classroom the desks were in groups and later were moved into rows. To cut down on some of the talking between the students. All eyes were on the teacher when she talked waiting in anticipation.
