2.6 Use of educational and educational programs on CD

New multimedia technologies give a high effect of teaching a foreign language if they are supported by advanced methodological techniques.
The main types of work with a personal computer can be divided into two groups: the use of educational and cognitive programs on CD, programs in various applications by the teacher himself with further use in the classroom when explaining the material or when working it out.
The use of educational and cognitive programs on CD is the most affordable way to use a computer, both in the classroom and outside of school hours. /Appendix 16/
Multimedia capabilities allow you to listen to speech in the target language, adapting it in accordance with your level of perception, and sound speed control allows you to break phrases into separate words, while comparing the pronunciation and spelling of words.
Using a microphone and automatic pronunciation control allows you to correct phonetic skills.
To work with the whole class, programs are used that suggest the possibility of children's participation in the learning process. The teacher works behind the keyboard, and the students jointly discuss the material that is displayed on the screen. The work acquires an exciting character if you display the image using a projector on a large screen. During such a lesson, students are divided into groups where they work together, and the teacher, analyzing the conclusions made by them, enters the result into a computer.
Among the most successful programs of this type, Triple Play Plus, which was released back in 1997, should be noted. With its help, children can be taught to perceive speech by ear, in addition, they learn to read, pronounce correctly at three levels, which makes it possible for the teacher to compare the speech of children standard, as well as to assimilate the analyzed voice to the characteristics of the speaker. /Appendix 17/
The most successfully used part of the program is the description of appearance. Students are invited to create a sketch of the person represented. With the help of a mouse or a microphone, you can collect a portrait and work out all the vocabulary to describe the appearance.
With great success, 5th grade students conduct a group discussion. Then, for an additional month, the children are allowed to work on the computer on their own after school.
Among the most widely known programs on CD is the recommended "Professor Higgins". The program is designed for the individual work of the student in phonetics and grammar. It is almost impossible to use this program in lessons with the whole class. This disk has found application in the following types of work:
 practicing phonetics (with a microphone) at the initial stage of training. It must be taken into account that the speaker on the disc pronounces the sound indistinctly, and the proverbs, moreover, with obvious speech defects, therefore it is almost impossible to completely combine the frequency response with him.
 setting the pronunciation of proverbs and sayings (with a microphone).
 Individual credit on the studied grammatical topics, which vary in difficulty level. It should be noted that the conduct of this type of tests gave a rather large increase in the quality of knowledge, the factor of the subjectivity of the teacher was excluded during the assessment. / 7 /
At the senior stages, the Learn to Speak English program (2 CDs) was successfully used for a comprehensive development of lexical topics. The discs, consisting of 30 topics - lessons, have a large set of dialogues, exercises, games on these topics, as well as videos about US cities. Moreover, the teacher can demonstrate video clips with or without English subtitles. When using this program for two or three lessons, you can comprehensively work out the available topics.
The use of presentations in the classroom makes it possible to animate, change and highlight the most significant elements using color, tilt font, size. So, for example, when explaining the formation of questions in English, students see how the sentence is gradually rebuilt from a narrative to an interrogative one. If necessary, you can repeat this or that step. In addition, photographs, diagrams or tables can be added to the presentation, which further enhances the impact effect. Such a technique relies heavily on visualization, which leads to better assimilation of the material. / 17 /
From the experience of working with presentations during the school year with the introduction of six grammar topics in grades 5-8, we can conclude:
 the concentration of students' attention on the input material approaches 100%;
 the speed and quality of assimilation of the topic increases. Usually, already in the next lesson, students almost accurately work on the topic they have studied.
 increased responsibility for learning.
Summarizing the experience of using a computer and multimedia technologies, we can conclude:
 multimedia technologies speed up the learning process;
 contribute to a sharp increase in students' interest in the subject;
 improve the quality of assimilation of the material;
 allow to individualize the learning process;
 make it possible to avoid the subjectivity of the assessment.
Thus, the introduction of computer technologies creates the prerequisites for the intensification of the educational process. They allow in practice to use psychological and pedagogical developments that ensure the transition from the mechanical assimilation of knowledge to mastering the ability to independently acquire new knowledge. / 18 /
