Introduction
Today, the interest in learning foreign languages is growing in our country. The study of foreign languages is of great importance in strengthening international relations and diplomatic relations. The role of literature in the process of language learning is unique. Through literary texts it is possible to study not only the language , but also the culture of other countries.

This work is devoted to an analysis of the life and work of Emily Dickinson, one of the most famous representatives of the poems of 19th century American literature.
The aim of the course paper is to explore the importance Dickinson's well- known work , which played a key role in the development of the poet genre in 19th century American literature. The work is to provide some basic information about the consideration of the poet genre as an important source of Dickinson's work.
The methods of research are:
-descriptive method (to describe main points of the research work)
-comparative analysis (to compare pros and cons sides of history in American poet )
-cognitive conceptual analysis (to investigate phases, background and typology of historical poet)
