NON-CONTACT TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENTS OF METAL

Abstract:
At almost all industrial stages of production, maintaining a given temperature is a factor 
in ensuring the technological process and product quality. Non-contact infrared thermometers have thus become widely known as 
measuring technology, since they do not affect the measuring object. This also applies to the process of measuring metals.

Correct monitoring and control of the process temperature requires quality advice from the manufacturer or basic knowledge 
of measuring technology from the customer. This article provides basic information on important parameters such as emissivity and 
reflectance, and the resulting measurement errors. In addition, it shows how they affect the measurement of metals and why a reliable 
and reproducible non-contact measuring method can be used here.
