DYNAMICS OF THE CONTENT OF PHOTOSYNTHETIC PIGMENTS IN 
COMMON BEAN LEAVES AFTER PRE-SOWING TREATMENT OF SEEDS 
WITH VARIOUS DOSES OF Γ-RADIATION
Abstract
. The paper presents data on photosynthetic pigments in the leaves of bean, the seeds of which were subjected to 
pre-sowing gamma irradiation. It was shown that the concentration of pigments depends both on the period of plant development and 
on the radiation dose.

The growth and development of plants are known to be closely related to environmental factors such as light, 
temperature, radiation, salinity, drought, etc. To be more precise, a normal course of biological processes is possible in 
the environment to which plants adapt. It is obvious that a change in this condition must lead to certain changes in the 
course of biological processes. Adverse environmental conditions such as low and high temperatures, salinity, low 
radiation doses are believed to lead to the formation of mechanisms in plants ensuring their tolerance. The purpose of our 
study was the elucidation of the effect of low-dose radiation on the content of pigments such as chlorophyll and 
carotenoids in bean leaves. The dynamics of changes in the content of pigments depending on both the irradiation dose 
of seeds and the rate of plant growth were determined.
