process. Teaching phonetics and reading in grade 5 is the main task. Therefore, English
teachers try to find such methods and forms of work that would allow them to perform
this task with the greatest efficiency. Here, too, I am helped by the techniques of
working with the use of ICT. First, I try to use learning disks with phonetic exercises
at every opportunity. However, due to the limited time available, I recommend that
children work with such disks at home, since most families now have computers.
Second, I use PowerPoint presentations to explain reading rules. Along with training
disks and presentations, I use a very interesting and useful guide for English teachers,
"Reading fun", made in the program Macromedia Flash, which I found on the Internet.
When teaching grammar, I also try to use various methods of working with ICT. I use
a PowerPoint presentation to explain a new rule or to test my knowledge. For example,
when studying the conjugation of the verb to be, I tell students a story about the
adventures of this verb, accompanying the story with a presentation. A bright, colourful
presentation helps students better remember the theoretical material and use the verb
to be without mistakes in the future. The Internet gives a teacher a huge potential when
teaching grammar. Here you can find not only exercises in all sections of English
grammar but also online tests that immediately assess the student's result. When
studying the topic "Modal verbs" I not only show students a presentation with
theoretical material but also use the simulator "Verb can" to practice the use of this
verb in the speech of students.
In our work, we also use the capabilities of ICT to solve complex problems,
so multimedia lessons and tasks are used to train listening skills. The sources of such
tasks are multimedia lessons and the Internet. The Internet is a rich source of audio
recordings. For example, there is a website that has the necessary songs "for all
occasions" - lyrics and music. When learning to speak: Formation of phonetic speaking
skills; organization of communication in pairs and small groups using role-playing
games based on simulation programs. The ability to communicate, explain, approve,
convince, congratulate, give a description, etc. For example, when studying the topic
"London", students take a virtual trip around the city and talk about what they see. Pair
work can be carried out, in which students act out a dialogue between a resident of
London or a guide and a visitor. When learning to translate: Formation of lexical and
grammatical skills of translation; control of translation correctness; mastering the
ability to edit translation texts using text editors and machine translation systems;
