Positive and negative development essay
A few years ago a new question was added to IELTS Essay task: - Is this a positive or negative development?
Your IELTS task 2 can require you to answer a "negative/positive development" question.
You will need to discuss whether something is a positive or negative trend and provide reasons to support your answer.
It is very similar to Agree / Disagree Essay. Because you have two choices in this essay type. Give examples for positive and negative equally or just choose one-side style as fully positive statement or negative one.
This essay type has two common way of writing:
1. Completely one sided- being completely positive or completely negative
Its structure:
Introduction
1.Paraphrase the question;
2. Introduce the specific topics that will be discussed in the main body paragraphs
And your own thesis statement ( ex: positive )
I strongly support that this is a positive development

Main body 1
1. Topic sentence (for positive)
2. Give details
3. Examples
Main body 2

• Topic sentence ( for positive)
• Give details
• Examples

Conclusion
1. Summary of main points and reset your own statement ( positive)

2. Discussing both sides but favouring one – having negative but overall positive /
