The Herbarium of St. Petersburg state University (LECB) is one of the biggest University herbaria of 
Russia. Its funds contain not less than 800 000 herbarium sheets (apparently more than 1,000 000). The exact 
time of the creation of the St. Petersburg State University Herbarium is unknown, and the current date 1823, 
is largely conventional and is associated with the arrival of the University H. G. Bongard. In the herbarium 
of Bongard we have found 1200 specimens with labels written in their own hand С. Willdenow. Since 2004 
herbarium specimens Willdenow was selected (now stored separately) and photographed. The database was 
created, containing images (photos). Later, all specimens were scanned using HerbScan with a resolution of 
600 dpi, and partially, mostly Willdenow’s syntypes, or specimens that may be types, have been placed in 
the database of the University of Vienna and in JSTOR.

Род жимолость (
Lonicera
L.), входящий в трибу Lonicereae семейcтва Caprifoliaceae, включает 
более 240 видов; из них около 190 распространено в северном полушарии, прежде всего, в Китае 91 
вид (Hsu & al., 1988; Qiner & al., 2011), в культуре свыше 100 видов. На территории бывшего СССР в 
диком виде встречается 51 вид и интродуцировано более 90 видов (Пояркова, 1958). На Северо-
Западе России (Цвелёв, 2000; Бялт, 2014) произрастает от 3 до 5 дикорастущих видов.
