Abstract:
This article is about the role of accounting in digital economy. The author tries to 
outline the importance and the essence of accounting in this new sphere of economy. Besides, in this 
article described the development stages and automation of accounting, by giving examples of its 
facilitates at the work of accountants and, in comparison with manual processing of information. In 
addition, some advantages and disadvantages of accounting in digital economy, blockchain and cloud 
technologies, being explained. At the end, there are some suggestions and conclusions are made in 
order to further develop the role of accounting in digital economy.
