With the consistently developing degrees of interconnectivity and globalization all throughout 
the planet, the meaning of quick and suitable methods of correspondence has been expanding very 
quickly in this advanced world. There is a requirement for a typical language to speak with the cur-
rent developing business and exchange between organizations from everywhere the world. With the 
advancement of information just as globalization, it is apparent that the vast majority everywhere on 
the world are speaking with individuals of other locales in just one globally perceived language, that 
is English. English is the language that is nearly utilized between a specialist and a worldwide orga-
nization. English, being the first world language, is supposed to be the main worldwide most widely 
used language and it is the most broadly utilized language in the world in worldwide exchange, mass 
media, telecommunications, diplomacy and publications. 
In this century, English language has become the fastest increasing language. We know English 
as the International language. English language is spreading all over the world. English is the most 
widely used in every sphere or field such as education, science, medicine, technology, trade, banking, 
engineering, tourism, pharmacy, business, Internet and others. As the 21
st
century is the century of 
modern technology and information, all instructions and apps for new gadgets are written in English. 
New technologies and technic machines which is used in every field are constructed in English. In 
order to know how to use them, we should know English language. Almost 90% of Internet resources 
are in English. Scientific reports, articles, lectures, the most interesting and best-seller books are writ
-
ten and published in English. That’s why, most of the students who go to foreign countries to study 
should know this language as almost all the books of science, information technology, medicine, en-
gineering and so on are written in English. In many countries, English is fundamental as a language 
of diplomacy, trade and business. Almost 80% of world operations and meetings are conducted in En-
glish. World financial funds and exchanges operate in English. English has become an important tool 
for those who want to work in foreign company or abroad. Moreover, English is the global language 
as it the language used by the people of all the countries in the world. Even it is the native language 
of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand, it is 
spoken by more non-native speakers of the world. Therefore, English attained the status of a global 
language all over the world.
Why English has become the most used and popular language in the world? Why English is the 
international language? Why now young generation is dedicating time to learn and speak in English? 
These are fascinating questions to explore. English is the most commonly spoken language. One 
out of five people are able to speak or understand English. More than 375 million people around the 
world use English as a first language and more than 750 million people speak in English as a second 
language. As it was mentioned, most people use English language as a foreign language. The number 
of foreign learners of English language is more than the number of native speakers of English. Even 
English is the native language of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, South 
Africa and New Zealand, it is spoken by more non-native speakers of other countries. So, wherever 
you go or travel, you come across with English signs and advertisements. Whenever you go restaurant 
or café, definitely, there will be English menu and waiter and waitresses can speak in English. If you 
travel to Europe, UAE, Korea, Turkey or China, If you can’t speak in their native language, you can 
use English to communicate with them.

Also, English has got official language status, for around sixty countries and fifteen countries 
are using English language as a de facto official language. According to the recent statistics, English 
is the official language of fifty-four countries. As English is the international language, it is also the 
language used not only by the diplomats of foreign countries, but also by lots of world organiza-
tions such as UNESCO, UNICEF, ASEAN, WTO, WHO, UNO, INTERPOL, BRICS, ILO, EFTA, 
OPEC and others. One third of the international organizations use English as an official language. 
In addition, 90% of Asian international organizations use English, too. With the high development 
of modern technology, English is playing a fundamental role in every sphere. Even robots can speak 
in English now. For instance, in medicine the instructions of medical technologies are in English. In 
engineering, lots of technics and machines are constructed in English. Most of the technical termi-
nology is based on English words. In order to know how to use them, we should know or understand 
English. In education, most of the innovations related to education are created in English. Such as 
smartboards, e-books or e-diary are latest innovations in education. Moreover, in this century, lots of 
scientific papers are written in English. The most popular best-seller books and scientific books are 
published in English. Also, English is the language of the Internet. More than half of the contents on 
the Internet written in English. Social networks such as Instagram, YouTube, Telegram, Facebook, 
Twitter and others were founded in English. Through the websites an individual can find everything 
in English. Another advantage of English language is that to create a huge number of opportunities 
for work and career. When you apply for a job, If you know English and speak in English fluently, 
the possibility of accepting you for a job will be higher. In this modern world, knowing English is a 
quality and it will give us an opportunity to create our business or to get well-paid job. 
As a developing country Uzbekistan is paying a great attention to learning English. Uzbek gov-
ernment are creating opportunities to teach English to young generation. For example, President of 
the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev adopted a resolution on measures to further improve 
the quality of foreign language teaching in educational institutions. Ensuring the quality of teaching 
foreign languages to the younger generation at all stages of the system of continuing education, radi-
cally improving the system of training specialists fluent in foreign languages, ensuring the continuity 
and continuity of curricula in this area In order to provide benefits and incentives to pupils, students 
and teachers who have a qualification certificate on the basis of the development of a national test 
system for assessing the level of knowledge of foreign languages, the Cabinet of Ministers decides:
To the State Testing Center under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the 
Ministry of Public Education, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, the Center 
for Secondary Special and Vocational Education:
From the 2017-2018 academic year, the level of foreign language acquisition at all stages of the 
system of continuing education is determined by the state educational standards “Listening”, “Rea-
ding”, “Writing”. Develop and implement an evaluation mechanism based on Speaking skills

Thus, in this article, role of English as a global 
language, as an official language and as a second language, the importance of learning English, the 
advantages of English language in every field have been clearly discussed. Importance of English 
in education, in travelling, in business and in science has been comprehensively discussed. In brief, 
English language has a great reputation in every sphere and the world is trying to learn and speak in 
English language.
