Task 3. Write an essay about Fergana valley after reading the given topic.
So, first of all I want to tell about history of this valley. Ferghana valley has a long and wealthy history. There are different opinions about the origin of the word Ferghana. Scientists say that the word "Fargana" was written in Sughd inscriptions 12 centuries ago in the forms "Pargana", "Pragana" and "small region" in Indo-Sanskrit language; they say that it has the meanings "valley in the middle of the valley", "river surrounded by a closed stream" in the Persian language. Fergana Valley includes 3 regions which are Andijan, Namangan and Fergana. Among them, the Fargana region had a great place in history. In addition, Fargana Valley is distinguished by its location among the mountains.
Ferghana Valley - a valley located between the mountains of Central Asia, one of the largest mountain ranges of Central Asia. It is surrounded by mountain ranges of Tianshan in the north and HisarOlai in the south. Mainly in Uzbekistan, partly in the territory of the Republics of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Its wide part is in the form of a triangle extending to the northern slopes of the Turkestan and Olai ridges, surrounded by the Kurama and Chatkal ridges from the northwest, and the Fergana ridge from the northeast.
Minerals such as oil, coal, natural gas, gypsum, iron, copper ores, mercury, limestone, zinc, sulfur, wax, salt, polymetallic ores, antimony, mineral water were formed in the Fergana Valley in different geological periods. During the former USSR, the Fargona Valley, like other regions of Uzbekistan, was specialized in cotton cultivation. There is a lot of running water in the Fergana Valley. Rivers and streams flow from the mountains (Norin, Karadaryo, Sokh, Isfara, Shohimardonsoy, Aqbura, Govasoy, Chodaksoy). Rivers are mainly filled with snow and rainwater. Fergana valley is also rich in underground water. The level of underground water rises in October-November and decreases in May-June in the rocky and gravelly areas around the stream; the annual fluctuation of the water surface is 1–3 m. In the plain part, underground water is 2 m deep, sometimes it comes out to the surface. In addition to groundwater, there are three aquifers at a depth of 400 m.
