Method of loop currents - The loop current method is used to calculate complex circuits of various configurations with more than 2 nodes and several EMF sources. It is based on the application of Kirchhoff's second law.
- In the method of loop currents, the calculated (loop) currents are taken as unknown values, which are additionally introduced into each of the independent loops. Thus, the number of unknown currents and equations in the system is equal to the number of independent circuit loops.
- Its advantage is that fewer independent equations are compiled, its disadvantage is that real currents are calculated not directly, but through loop currents.
