Title of the course: PROBLEMS OF THE EUROPEAN INTEGRATION
The course is a constituent part of the professional BA program in Cultural Administration, part C.

Course abstract: during the studies the main attention is paid to the maintenance of the European system. On the basis of the contact hours there are lectures about the topicalities of the European integration, institutions and politic of the European organizations. Withing the study course the students get acquainted with the present system of the European integration by developing professional skills for the business opportunities in Europe.
Aims and tasks of the course:

1.1. to give an idea about the basics of the European integration, giving necessary knowledge about the united European structures and politics, stressing the business opportunities in the united Europe.



1.2. Tasks:

  • Development of the understanding about the process of the European integration;

  • Getting the students acquainted with the institutions and politics of the European Union;

  • Review of the activities and structures of the European organizations;

  • Development of the practical skills with regard to the possibilities of the professional business in Europe.


Credit value: 1 CP
Assessment: seminar, completing the test in due time.

Abstract of the course:

The course gives an overview on the development of 20th century new music, it especially characterises innovation and avant-garde movements, and reveals the aesthetic aspects of the new music as well as its incorporation into the social and cultural contexts. The creative work of the most important composers is characterised.


The aims of the course:

Systematic notions about the development of 20th century music, important movements and styles, the leading composers and their creative work. Ability to orient in the complicated contemporary culture situation.

Title of the course: INTRODUCTION INTO THE MYTHOLOGY OF BALTS
The course is a constituent part of the professional BA program in Cultural Administration, part C.

Aim of the course: the mythology studies the mythical conception, mythological idea about the world’s origins, the ideas of the ancient people about the world’s origins, about Gods and legendary heroes, about the nature phenomenons. This is the way of thinking in the partticular historic period, which reflects the social and economic structure of that time. The knowledge of mythology helps to understand the way of development of the human recognition, for it reveals general and most important regularities in the development of conscious, reflects the peculiar understanding of the world’s unity.
Course tasks:

1. to improve the students’ idea about the mythology of Balts and content and peculiarities of the folklore, as well as its relation to the mythical ideas of the hindoeuropean people.



  1. to improve the students’ comprehension of mythology as the cultural archeology, which, in turn, helps to reveal many psychological aspects and symbolic meaning of different everyday traditions

  2. to help to reveal the regularities of the development of the world view and see the evolution of conscious from myth to logos by analyzing myths of different centuries.

  3. to understand how the elements of the mythical thinking in the modified way have been preserved throughout the human history, literature, art, religion, sociology, politics, etc. of the new time.


Credit value: 1 CP
Assessment: test
Requirements: 1. Attendance of the lectures – at least 50 %.

2. Preparation of a report (writing, 4-6 pages).
