Do the advantages of this situation outweigh the disadvantages?
Advantages:
1) Universities don’t need to have more space to keep digital materials
2) cost-saving. Printing traditional books is much more expensive as students tend to read e-books without any effort
3) Doing so makes it easy for students to find any information easily for their researches
4) can lead to nature conservation as we no longer have to cut more trees.
Disadvantages:
1) It is bad for health and leads to eyestrain (for all of us)

Many people today have access to more information online and this trend led to the replacement of textbooks to the e-books. As a result, universities ought to change traditional books for digital materials. In my opinion, benefits of this development far more outweigh the drawbacks.

It is said that using digital books can be bad for us in several ways. Firstly, if we use them for long hours, they can lead to eyestrain, more importantly for the young. In other words, students, who are using their technological devices for educational purposes, seem to spend most of their time looking at the screen and damaging their eyesight. Although this medical problem does not show up so readily, they may have effect in the long term. Secondly, sitting prolonged hours without any exercises can cause other health problems, such as bad posture, physical fatigue and obesity. However, they are not unavoidable and we can protect ourselves by exercising and wearing glasses while studying.
On the other side, this situation is beneficial for both people and the environment. Replacing paper books to e-books can be cost-saving for universities, as they don’t need to have more space to keep digital materials. Besides, students don’t waste their time going to the libraries and their money for transportation. As a result, it can make it easy for students to study, and they may become good at their fields. Moreover, this trend can contribute to the environment since the use of digital platforms gives a rise to paperless. It means that there will be less demand for wood, which is the raw material for paper. It can lead to nature conservation as we no longer have to cut more trees, which helps to improve our planet.
To sum up, although some people argue that using digital materials can lead to health issues, this negative effect can be solved by the use of protective glasses and exercises. Thus, advantages of this trend for people and nature are more important than the disadvantages.
