Though 87% of the teachers indicated that they deal with facts and real life
situations as shown above, findings from the 22 observed classrooms show
that 88% of the teachers facilitated connections between prior knowledge and
new learning while 12% did not. In several classrooms teachers began their
lesson by asking a few questions related to the previous lesson. In some
classrooms teachers introduced the new lesson by writing the topic on the
board and then asked questions about it. The paraphrased interchange below
illustrates this point.
