PECULIARITIES OF TRANSLATION OF ENGLISH IDIOMS INTO UZBEK

English  is  the  international  language  of communication.  Its  popularity  and  relevance  o f studying  increases 

Many areas o f human activity require  a good knowledge  o f the English language.  In English -  a lot o f idioms,  more 

than  15,000.  English-speaking  people  often use idioms  as  a matter o f course.  Idioms make up  a bright and national- 

peculiar part o f the linguistic picture  o f the  world.  Therefore,  I  consider that,  without knowing idioms  o f the  studied 

language,  it  is  possible  to  be  trapped  at  communication  with  the  foreigner.  The  world  of phraseology,  idioms  c~" 

modem English, is large and diverse,  and every aspect of their research certainly deserves due  attention.

Learning English,  over time, to  appear the  question of replenishment o f the vocabulary o f stable expressions - 

idioms  o f English.  Idioms,  or phraseological units  exist in any language,  and English is no  exception.  An idiom is a 

stable phrase peculiar only to  a given language,  the meaning  o f which is not determined by the meaning o f its word= 

taken separately.  Due to the  fact that it is impossible to translate  an idiom verbatim (meaning is lost),  translation an; 

understanding  difficulties often arise.

Idioms  have  been  studied  for  a  long  time,  but not everything  has  been  studied in the  English phraseological 

system.  Thus,  one  o f the  important  problems  in  connection  with  the  growing  interest  in  the  English  language  in 

Uzbekistan remains  the  problem  o f translation  of English  phraseological  units  into  Uzbek  language.  However,  the 

methods  and  techniques  o f translating  phraseological  units  from  Russian  into  Uzbek  have  not  yet  been  studied 

sufficiently,  whereas  idioms  allow  a  deeper  understanding  o f  the  language,  English  people,  their  culture  and 

worldview.  English and Uzbek languages  are unrelated,  especially non -  closely related languages.  It is known thai 

between  closely related  languages  existence  o f a  large  number  o f semantic  and  structural  and  syntactic  features  at 

the  level  o f phraseology  is  observed.  Attention  should  also  be  paid  to  the  fact  that,  in  the  opinion  o f translators, 

phraseological units occupy almost the first place in the  scale o f "non-transferability"  or "hard-transferability".
