Logistics as a sphere of practical activity is a set of logistics systems that 
ensure the organization and continuous movement of material and other 
accompanying flows (information, financial, labor, etc.) at all stages of the 
reproduction process. 
When logistics operations are highly integrated and form a core competence, 
they serve as a source of strategic advantage. 
The sequence of functional cycles connects the logistics system of a business 
enterprise with its customers and suppliers into a single supply and distribution 
chain. 
The conceptual framework for the integration of logistics is shown in Fig. 1. 
Logistics is seen as an area of expertise that connects a company with its customers 
and suppliers. Streams of customer information enter the company in the form of 
sales data, forecasts, and orders. This information is translated into specific 
production and purchasing plans. The incoming material resources initiate a flow 
of stocks that gradually acquire added value, the movement of which ends with the 
transfer of ownership of finished products to consumers. Thus, in this single 
process, two components are distinguished: the flow of stocks and the information 
flow.
