INTRODUCTION
The topic of this paper is “ The contribution of educational technologies in advancing a discourse competence of general public schools (in the example of A2 levels)”.
The actuality of this course work. Nowadays, more and more people are dedicating time to study English as a second language. Because English is the most commonly spoken language around the world and used as a lingua franca (a mutually known language) by people that are from different parts of the globe. Moreover, English is also considered as the language of business, science, aviation, computers, diplomacy, internet and tourism. It means that knowing English increases the chance of succeeding in many areas and fields of the life.
It is generally believed that globalization has led to the dominance of English as the language of education and business in several countries. It is being required to have a certain proficiency of English in order to communicate among the people of different cultures. As a consequence, there a lot of pressure and need for learning foreign language as fast as possible and communicate effectively. Actually it is a challenging effort for these kind of people whose intention is achieving their goal in a short period of time. Today learning a language is completely different from what it was in the past: majority of the learners are trying to communicate orally as early as possible.
Because of the fact that, considering the growing significance of English language, many countries, as well as Uzbekistan, include English language in their school syllabus and children are starting to learn English at a younger ages. Therefore there is a need of searching for new effective teaching methods and techniques to enhance learners’ fluid communication. In other words, it is believed that education reform can be a key determinant for new improvements in English language teaching.
Nowadays a great number of methods are being suggested in order to conduct foreign language teaching lessons. For instance, the integration of the four skills in relation to texts, one of the basic tenets of modern language teaching, depends on the development of the discourse competence in the classroom. Discourse competence is divided into two groups: written discourse competence and spoken discourse competence. Learners achieve better results if these factors are taken into consideration while teaching a new language. Because with the help the discourse competence, learners enhance their language skills which are productive as well as receptive skills.
Taking these factors into consideration, our president is also paying great attention to motivate youngsters to learn foreign languages. On one of the videoselector meeting, 1the President Shavkat Mirziyayev Miromonovich stated that, “The time has come to create in Uzbekistan a new system of teaching foreign languages, which will become a solid foundation for the future. Since we set ourselves the goal of building a competitive state, from now on, graduates of schools, lyceums, colleges and universities must be fluent in at least two foreign languages. This strict requirement should become the main criterion for the work of the head of each education institution”.
In accordance with the developing the quality of teaching foreign language, educational technologies have a pivotal role on enhancing the abilities of the learners in a target language.
