EFFECT OF ECOLOGICAL CONDITIONS ON THE MORPHOMETRIC PROPERTIES OF 
WRIST JOINT MUSCLES IN POSTNATAL ONTOGENESIS OF SHEEP

Annotation. 
The dynamics of changes in the morphometric parameters of the muscles of the 
wrist joint and flexor at different physiological stages of postnatal ontogeny of sheep of different breeds 
in different environmental conditions were studied. The linear size and weight of the muscles affecting 
the wrist joint in sheep have been found to increase slightly from the first 3 days to 3 months of 
postnatal ontogeny, regardless of the living conditions of the animals. At the physiological maturation 
stage of sheep postnatal development, i.e. at 18 months of age, morphometric values of the muscles 
affecting the wrist joint were observed to be higher than at other ages. It has been reported that the 
morphometric size of these muscles is higher in sheep with adequate natural conditions than in 
inadequate conditions. In both animals under natural conditions, it was found that during all the studied 
stages of postnatal ontogeny, the absolute value of the wrist muscle that records the wrist is higher than 
that of the elbow muscle that flexes the wrist.
