Introduction: It is a fact that social media has tremendously changed the way people interact and 
carry on with their everyday lives. With internet becoming a necessity in every home or office, 
majority of people who are online spend most of their time on social media sites. 
You can’t afford to unleash your presence on social, it’s as essential as any other thing in your life. 
Purpose: Determinate the role of social sites in our live. Negative Effects on life 
Body:Popular Social Media Sites 
Facebook 
This is the biggest social media network on the Internet, both in terms of total number of users and 
name recognition. Founded on February 4, 2004, Facebook has within 12 years managed to 
accumulate more than 1.59 billion monthly active users and this automatically makes it one of the 
best mediums for connecting people from all over the world with your business. It is estimated that 
more than 1 million small and medium-sized businesses use the platform to advertise their business. 
Twitter 
You might be thinking that limiting your posts to 140 characters is no way to advertise your 
business, but you will be shocked to know that this social media platform has more than 320 million 
active monthly users who make use of the 140 character limit to pass on information. Businesses 
can use Twitter to interact with prospective clients, answer questions, release latest news and at the 
same time use the targeted ads with specific audiences. Twitter was founded on March 21, 2006, 
and has its headquarters in San Francisco, California.

The teenage brain has confounded parents for generations. Nowadays, with the lives of most 
teenagers so heavily enmeshed in social media, it’s even harder for parents to know what’s truly 
going on behind the screens. 
Social media can give voice to the voiceless, accelerate and aid learning, and help people to feel 
supported and uplifted. 
The role of social sites in our life: 
Conclusion: One way social media is playing a great role in our lives is the way news is delivered. 
A high number of people prefer to access their profiles on social media first before visiting news 
sites. Social media has greatly affected the way people spend their leisure time. Gone are the days 
when people frequented parks or libraries during their free time. However, with the rise in social 
media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, more and more people are logging in everyday just to 
interact and share information with friends and followers. Socializing: Social media has also

changed the way people socialize and interact with each other. Even though a large number of 
people still meet each other or new people through traditional venues such as cafes, parks and so on, 
more people are discovering friends via social media.
