Theme: Lexicology as a subject 

The Aim of the Lesson:  

  To familiarize students with the subject matter of Lexicology 

  To teach them scope of the discipline  

  To make students realize the vital importance of the subject to amplify 

their vocabulary system through the study 

 

Plan of the lesson 

1.  Introduction into Lexicology 

2.  Branches of Lexicology 

3.  Conclusion: To raise the generic awareness of the students about the 

science and entice them towards the subject  

 

Warm-up activities (10-15 mins) 

 

  Tongue twisting: E.g. “I miss my miss; my miss misses me” 

   Riddles: E.g. “I am always on my way, but never arrive today. What am 

I?”  

 

To assimilate proverbs: E.g. “Strike the iron while it is hot”
