The World Bank is an international financial institution that
invests and provides loans to developing countries.
The World Bank is an international financial institution.
It includes 3 independent international financial institutions
(the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development,
the International Finance Corporation and the International Development Association),
which have the status of a specialized institution of the UN. In some literature,
the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development is informally called the World Bank.

World Bank System
The World Bank includes two major organizations:
the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and
the International Development Association (IDA). In addition to them,
it also indirectly includes 3 other organizations: International Financial Corporation (IFC),
which is affiliated with the World Bank, but legally and financially independent
(this organization helps to finance private enterprises in developing countries).
International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes and Comprehensive
Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). The International Development Association
(IDA) is engaged in providing preferential loans to countries,
which are financed on the basis of donations from donor countries.
