Hello Alex and Team,
My name is Abdurahmon Dadaboyev. Abdurahmon is the first name. You can just call me Adam.
I was born and grew up in a remote village of Andijan region in Uzbekistan. I lived there until I was 15 and moved to the capital, Tashkent. This is where I live now. For one year in 2006 and 2007 I lived and studied in Orlando, Florida as an exchange student. It was one of the best experience of my life. I had a chance to immerse myself into a new community, a new family, a new school. It was not without its challenges, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I still keep in touch with my host family. They came over to my wedding and I am planning to take my wife and newborn son to Florida as soon as I can.
From 2008 to 2012 I did a bachelor's degree in Economics and worked as a tutor at the same time. After graduating I decided to continue with tutoring and turn it into a business, which I did. For the next five years I ran that business with mild success, stumbled several times. This helped me to learn to differentiate risk from opportunity and taught me how to weigh them.
In 2017 opportunity came along to work on cruise ships. I applied and got a job in Finance Department of Carnival Cruise Ships. Training period was challenging but it helped me to be successful at my job, became really good at it and trained four other newcomers within first 12 months of my employment. Here I learned to read into numbers and started appreciating practical importance of data in decision making.
Now let's talk about me and EF
I saw the ad for Business Analyst on Facebook. I was looking for this kind of job because my job at Carnival involved a fair bit of analysis and data manipulation and I still remember how I loved sifting through information to come to revealing conclusions - insights if you like. As is the rule when one finds a good job ad on the internet, I was sceptical about it first. But as I read through the EF website, it increasingly sounded like this company, the corporate culture of this company, and I were perfect fit for each other. First thing that drew my attention was description of 4-8 week onboarding process. I consider myself a very fast learner, despite this or because of this I strongly believe any organization should allow for minimum 4 week onboarding process for new employees for maximum benefit for both sides. Secondly, as I was reading through the type of business this company was in I had questions regarding the filtering of businesses to deal with, evaluation process and how exactly EF would hand over one website from the buyer to a seller. As I read through the structure of the company and read about vetting and migration teams, what business analysts do, the roles of engineers, I started understanding the purpose of these teams and how much this company cares about the people it is working with.
Honestly, I have never officially worked in sales except when I was 12 years old helped my grandpa in the market. He was a sorts of a shopkeeper. Selling websites will be even newer experience for me. That is not to say I am far from digital world. I have a decent command of Excel. Currently I am studying data analysis on Udacity. But I am ready to learn. I want to get into this new and exciting world and thrive in this ecosystem.
