Determiners (determinatives) — articles and other elements designed to mark nouns they pattern with and to introduce a noun-phrase; e. g. his it's-my-money-do-as-you're-told voice.
Enclosure — a way of connection consisting in framing up subordinate elements e. g. our travelling talk, this language unit.
Explicit meaning —that one of categorical relevance signalled by a formal marker and realized through oppositions; e. g. the plural meaning of the "s"-marker in the opposition text — texts is explicit.
Extent(s)ion—a transformation rule symbolized as a syntactic process of adjoining subordinate elements (extenders) to the head; e. g/ a sunny day — a very sunny day in May.
Fillers — a form-class, a distributional class of linguistic elements which can be filled in a particular slot.
Formats — structural substitutes of function set ; e.g. we found It strange that...; it is necessary that...
Form-class — a distributional class of elements (words, phrases, clauses) occurring in the same position of a construction.
Function — manifestation of relationship between related elements; e. g. objective relations inherent between the V-head and W-comple-ment in V + Af-phrase are manifest by the object function of the complement.
Government (regimen) — a way of connection when the head of a subordinate word-group requires of its adjunct to assume an appropriate grammatical form (usually a case-form) or to be used with definite preposition; e. g. to see him (case government), to look at a man (prepositional government).
Hypostasis — a. process of word migration from one morphological word class (part of speech) into another including substantivization, adjectivization, adverbialization and the like.
Hypotaxis — formal subordination of dependent predicative units (clauses).
Implicit meaning — that one not expressed formally (implied passive, implicit plurality, reflexivity, etc.). Dependent implicit meanings realize through interaction with corresponding paradigmatic categories.
Initials — constituents occupying the front position in the sentence structure. In English sentences adverbials of time, place, cause and some others can be initials.
