Thank you for confirming to take part in the 2016 North Africa Regional Youth Consultation on the theme of “Promoting Young People’s Rights towards the attainment of Agenda 2063.” We look forward to your participation. We are writing to confirm the final details of the Consultation, including your travel arrangements, accommodation and all the necessary details you will need for your participation. For any questions and/or concerns, key contacts have been provided on the last page of this memo for your convenience.

Date and Venue	The 2016 North Africa Regional Youth Consultation will take place in Tunis, Tunisia from 29-30 September, 2016. Flights	All sponsored participants will be provided with a return ticket (Economy Class) in line with AU/NDI Financial Rules and Regulations, which will be sent to you via email. Every effort has been made to book your ticket in accordance with your preferences. Please acknowledge receipt when your e-ticket comes through, review it and take note of your flight itinerary. All participants are expected to arrive in Uganda according to their respective flight bookings. All sponsored participants are kindly requested to retain their boarding passes and submit them to the Secretariat as proof of travel.
Airport Pick-Ups and Local Transportation	All participants will be met on arrival at Tunis–Carthage International Airport (outside the terminal) for drop off at Ramada Plaza Hotel. Please look out for someone with a sign “AU YOUTH CONSULTATION”. At the end of the Consultation, transportation to the Airport will be arranged for all participants according to their flight schedule.
Visa, Passports and Entry Formalities to Uganda	Travel documents: All participants should hold a valid passport or another acceptable travel document. The document must have a validity of at least six months on the day of the participant’s entry in Tunisia. Visitors from Algeria, Libya, Mauritania and Morocco will not need a visa to enter Tunisia. Visas on arrival will be provided for participants coming from Egypt and Libya. All participants are advised to carry with them a copy of their official invitation letter.
Immunization Requirements	Hepatitis A and typhoid are prevalent in Tunisia. Travellers should carry their own supplies of prescription drugs and preventative medicines.
Accommodations	All sponsored participants will be provided with accommodation, including bed and breakfast. Lunch meals will be taken at the conference venue and dinner arrangements will be made. Program Information	All of the Youth Consultation event sessions will be held at Ramada Plaza Hotel. An agenda of the activities, including meeting times and venue will be included in your welcome packet. Registration will begin at 8:30 am on Thursday, 29 September 2016. For identification and security purposes, delegates will be provided with badges and are expected to wear them at the venue and at all times during the sessions for identification. Please note that no delegate shall access the venue without a valid badge.
Currency and Banking	The Tunisian Dinar (TND) is the official currency of Tunisia. Banknotes and coins are both used as legal tender for the country. The currency exchange rate as of 22 September, 2016 is 1 US Dollar = 2.19115 Tunisian Dinar. There are ATM machines around the city which accept Visa and Mastercard. The main banks in Tunisia are Arab Tunisian Bank, Banque Franco Tunisienne, Baque National Agricole, Attijari Bank, Citibank and Banque de Tunisie. Please note that Tunisian currency cannot be exported and must be obtained upon arrival, and it is illegal to take any Tunisian currency out of the country. All currency, including coins, must be changed back before leaving the country.
Electricity	Outlets in Tunisia are 220+ Volts and 50 Hertz. If you travel to Tunisia with a device that does not accept 220+V, you will need a voltage converter. It is advisable to bring your own adapter and transformer, if necessary. The power sockets used are of type E: Type E
Communication Facilities	Participants will be able to obtain and register SIM cards with pre-charged airtime at the airport. Please present passport to register for SIM cards. Orange sim cards are given out for free at the airport and may be topped up at the Orange kiosk outside in the arrivals hall.
Toiletries	Do not forget to bring all standard toiletry items. If you wear contact lens, you should bring all supplies needed. We also recommend that you bring vitamins and any medications/supplies you need (cold medication, antacids, aspirin, insect repellant, razors, tissues, and personal hygiene items).
Weather	On average, in Tunis in is September, daytime temperatures on average reach 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) and nighttime lows hover around 21 degrees Celsius (69 degrees Fahrenheit). The rainy season begins at the end of September.
Language	Arabic is the official languages of Tunisia.
Business and Shopping Hours	Offices are generally open from 8:30 - 13:00 and 15:00 - 17:45 from Monday to Friday in the winter and 8:30 - 13:00 from Monday to Friday in the summer. Government office opening hours may vary by half an hour. Shops are open later but many businesses and offices close on Friday for lunchtime, and the whole country works at half-efficiency during the month of Ramadan.
Entertainment	Delegates are invited to enjoy the entertainment spots in the city. There are several restaurants in the city lists of which can be provided on demand.
Security	Security forces remain on a high state of alert in Tunis and we recommend that you remain vigilant, avoid crowded places and follow the advice of the Tunisian security authorities.
Sickness or Accident	In case of sickness or accident during the Conference the delegates should immediately notify a member of the Organizing Committee. There will a standby medical assistance at Ramada Plaza Hotel. Delegates are advised to ensure that they have adequate insurance coverage, either at their own expense or at the expense of their nominating organisation, for sickness, accident, temporary disability, death and third party risk covering the entire duration of the conference and the journey to and from the Conference venue.
