Relevance to language learning/teaching

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

neuro-linguistic programming aims to teach people self-awareness, effective communication, and change their emotional behavior and mental state.

It examines the connection between language and brain.

Multiple Intelligences theory (Ml)

The prerequisites for the theory of multiple Intelligences are: it encompasses a relatively complete set of abilities that are important to people in any cultural environment. But at the same time, it must be agreed that the recognition (or exclusion) of a possible type of reason is based on more creative considerations than scientific judgment.

Multiple intelligences and learning styles are commonly confused with one another, but they are not the same. Multiple intelligences represent different intellectual abilities and strengths, whereas learning styles are about how an individual may approach a task.

Learning by rote

Rote learning is a memorization technique based on repetition. The idea is that one will be able to quickly recall the meaning of the material the more one repeats it. Some of the alternatives to rote learning include meaningful learning, associative learning, spaced repetition and active learning.

The rote memorization technique is based on repetition and memorization of individual items. The idea is that one will be able to quickly recall the meaning of the material the more one repeats it. When we learn all subjects in school, we try to remember information, and rote memorization is the only technique available to this end. However, adults experience frustration in learning a foreign language because they apply rote memorization to it as to all other subjects, and in most cases, they fail.

Learning by doing

This is one of the easiest ways to learn a language and it is easier to learn a language by doing it.

Learner autonomy can enhance a learning strategy and act as a driver of learner engagement. With an autonomous learning approach, autonomous learners are often better prepared for their job function and life in general.

Developing learner independence has an important role in the theory and practice of language teaching. Language learning is a lifelong endeavour, not one that begins and ends in a language class room. Most learners and teachers feel that language learning consumes a considerable amount of time.
