Ролевые игры часто используются, чтобы мотивировать студентов 
развивать речевые навыки в реальной разговорной ситуации, чтобы укрепить уверенность и 
беглость, оценить прогресс и привести обучение в действие. В этой статье обсуждается 
эффективное использование ролевых игр в классах английского языка.

Abstract. Role plays are often used to motivate students to develop speaking skills in real 
conversational situation in order to build confidence and fluency, and assess progress and put 
learning into action. This article discusses the effective use of role plays in English language 
classrooms.

Role play is one of the effective ways of teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Role 
plays are often used to motivate students to develop speaking skills in real conversational situation 
in order to build confidence and fluency, and assess progress and put learning into action. They are 
often set up to target to test social interaction skills such as negotiating, interrupting, asking for 
assistance and making small talk. Role plays may be as simple or as complicated as the teacher 
desires. Verbal instructions, secret messages, gestures and cue cards are all common ways of setting 
a scene. In the classroom there are three main types of role plays.

The cooperative role play
requires participants to work together for planning a party for 
the teacher, deciding the food list for a barbecue, brainstorming ways to attract tourists to local 
attractions is all cooperative role plays. Often involving 
‘
safe
’
situations, cooperative role plays are 
good for gently easing shy students into conversations and for building relationships within a 
student group.
