Write at least 150-word Critical report on each stories and a poem separately

including the following points in your each report:
_ What did you read (title, author)?

_ When did you read (how long it took)?

_ Brief summary of the story or the message of the poem

_ Is the story/poem worth reading? Why?

1. Critical report on the story “The Last Leaf.”

I read a small but meaningful and touching story called " The last leaf".

I finished reading this story in about 1 hour. I learned a lot in that 1 hour. I didn’t even know how this 1 hour went because this story impressed me so much.

This story begins with the lives of two artist girls. One of them, Johnsy, is very ill. Just as his neighbor, who wanted to be an artist but his dream did not come true, was as seriously ill as Behrmen.

Johnsy's friend Sue helps him as much as he can and tries to help him get out of the depression because Johnsy was convinced that his life would also come to an end by the leaves of the tree next to the neighboring wall falling. But through Behrmen's great masterpiece this sick little girl was living through hope.

I would definitely recommend this piece to my friends. Because through this little story we learn to be thankful for what we have in life.

2. Critical report on the story “The Gift of Magi.”

Valentine’s Day in the UK is now celebrated all over the word. There are millions of lovers in the world. This story is about the pure love of ordinary people It is clear from the title that the writer is trying to convey to the wearers that the gift is not important to the lovers.

In fact, I have read this story before and it is pretty much it but I liked it so much. So it did not take long In fact I memorized this story and read it carefully thought.

A poor but happy family would also be found on Valentine’s Day. His wife was a very beautiful girl with long hair, and her husband had no bread to eat. They went out in the morning to get a present together…..

Then when they see it, there is no gift for the cousin who received it for the gift. And her husband’s watch, they look at each other in amazement.

The writer skillfully demonstrates to them the importance of happiness, not a gift. This story is especially important for young people because it teaches them not to fall in love. Of course I think it is a great educational value to have her hard –grown hair cut for her lover or to sell her husband’s favorite watch

3. Critical report on the story “Cat in the Rain.”

Hemingway’s ‘’cat in the rain ‘’ has a symbolic title that points to the theme of unsatisfied emotional desire. First of all, the American couple are isolated in their room facing the sea. Then, the husband is disinterested in anything that goes on with the exception of the newspaper.

Depicts people through animals. This method is more figurative than reading, so I thought, that is, it makes a person think, encourages the writer to find a solution.

Two American –an American wife and her husband, GEORGE are staying in a hotel Italy. the room they occupy overlooks what would on a nice day, be a beautiful scene: a beach, a public garden, and a war monument. however, on this day, the weather is terrible. rain drips from the trees in the garden, on the beach and on the war monument, the landscape is deserted.

Of course, because the cat a twofold meaning to the story and the American woman. First, the cat symbolizes how human being are often faced with larger, more hostile forces than they can contend with on their own. Second, the cat symbolizes the situation of the women in her relationship.

4. Critical report on the poem “Miracle.”

I just read a wonderful poem “Miracles’’ by Walt Whitman. “Miracles” was first published in Whitman’s Leaves of Grass (Fowler & Wells, 1856) as “Poem of Perfect Miracles”. Walter Whitman was an American poet who lived between 1819-1892.

I actually did not know how much it took me to read this masterpiece, i was just fascinated by the content of this poem. When you read this type of poem, you simply cannot figure out how fast time is gone.

I do think this poem expresses the addiction of poet to nature. He is amazed by sea, sky, trees, animals and especially by humanity. He wonder about things human brain could create and humanity itself. Poet has understood the importance of humanity and many of other works of him describes it.

If anyone asks me to read this poem, I would definetely recommend it without any doubt. Poem makes you body feel calm and love as well as your soul.
